That's more than double than the highest paid coach in college football right now (which is Saban). No freaking way. Not happening.

If this includes a share in the Long Horn Network PLUS a salary, it is very possible. The School would only need to pay him 6-7 mil and the rest could be for his share of the LHN.

Sets a huge precedent for head coaches though. Either pay out the nose or hope you get lucky with an up and comer.
Plus if this does happen imagine the power vacum that could be left because of it.
Bama would go after a huge name so on and so forth.

Good point. Forgot about those rumors.

Funny you mention it, because in my Sports Law class last week, we had the AD and General Counsel of Northern Illinois come in and talk about how the future of paying players/paying coaches will be directly from the networks. The way federal funding is set up, you can't just give it directly to the players from the school.

I have heard from sources that Jon Gruden owns land in Tuscaloosa.

No one has asked the important question yet: what will jimmymac do if Saban is not the head coach of Bama next year?

3.) We were allowed the opportunity to enter a tailgate with several former auburn and alabama players, while there i was able to have a conversation with Bo Jackson. After talking about the upcoming game, I mentioned Saban, and he told me that Saban has already reached an agreement with Texas. Somehow he knows patterson, Not sure at all why he would tell Bo, or how Bo would find out but he was confident. I guess we will find out soon.

Uhhh, so we're suppose to believe Bo Jackson knew that Mack Brown was out at Texas and Nick Saban was in...this past Saturday? What, were Carrot Top, Ant, and Curt Schilling not available for a quote?

But then again, Bo Knows...

Based on what I read from Texas boards tonight is that it's happening. The biggest insider on any forum is "Jesus Shuttlesworth" from InsideTexas and he's saying that it's going to happen and he is not the only one. I would say this might unfold pretty quickly after Saturday assuming Bama doesn't slide into the NCG.

I contacted Nick on the recruiting trail and told him to immediately stop his in home visits to all the Bama recruits since he is obviously going to Texas.

On a side note, SI reports that Texas has contacted Gus M. at Auburn. Guess the Longhorn nation is having trouble determining who will be their next coach since their current coach really isn't the coach anymore.

My "sources" told me that "sources" are simply nothing more than people trying to get the credit for breaking stories... most of which are not founded in any real truth.

Bob Stoops has a signed contract to be the head coach at ND floating around there somewhere. I know that 'cause it was reported as such.

Oh, and John Gruden's wife has forced him to take the Tennessee job because Knoxville is her favorite city. He also has a signed contract out there somewhere - sources real close to the Tennessee sports department have said so.

Not sure how I feel about this if it were to happen, but I don't see it happening. We'll see.

This is a story from about two weeks ago, quoting UT trustee, megabooster, megabillionair, and megalawyer Joe Jamail (after whom the Royal Stadium field is named), saying that only Mack Brown will determine when Mack Brown leaves. Doesn't mean he's not going, just that he won't get pushed if Jamail, an aggressive, some would say unprofessional lawyer, has anything to say about it. FWIW.

That's a point I made a page or two back. If the law enforcement is smart, they'll be in contact with Saban and his crew to know when exactly this will go down (assuming it does).

I mean, a person was shot over a close conference loss. What happens when their coach that made the program leaves them?

It would be worth the price of admission. Sadly, some of these fans down here define their life by the success and/or failure of a football program and coach. If they would only be as passionate about education in this state. Priorities for a lot of people are wacked for sure.

If Jameis Winston is convicted today, and Saban knows he's going to Texas, I would not be surprised if Saban let the news break immediately following/same time as Winston being charged.

Agreed. There needs to be pay-per-view access to the whole state. I would gladly pay money to see the melt-down.

That reminds me... I need to stop at Academy on the way home and stock up on some ammo. Thanks Cacky.

Were they as vile as the ND fans who sent death threats to Jim Sanson mother?

Sanson received death threats for missed kicks (3 in a 3 pt loss to USC) on his dorm phone and via his student e-mail. After he closed both accounts, the low life's called his home in AZ and made their death threats again when his mom answered the phone.

The Greenstein article has an interesting commentary on the student body's reaction to a dropped past costing ND a National Championship. Had that pass been dropped today, there would have been a number of bannings on IE with a resulting clamor from the dumbass's dumbass supporters screaming that the bannings were inappropriate and unfair.

Unfortunately, every fanbase has its share of loons who have their priorities out of whack. Dodger & Giant fans beat & stab each other to death. Soccer fans in Europe riot and go nuts. CFB fans all across this country get so wrapped up in their team's success and failure that they attack each other or threaten players. Sports brings out the worst in the idiots.

Let's not forget the Texas fan who had his balls cut off (literally) by OU fans.
