100% agreed. Five Guys blows. You want to talk about overpaying for Chipotle (qdoba is better anyway), Five Guys is the most absurdly overpriced garbage passing for a burger I've ever seen. And the fries are ALWAYS soggy.

Sorry, I get worked up thinking about that place.

Never tried In-N-Out myself, but my wife said it was OK when she was in Cali. She said nothing to write home about, but better than most fast food burgers. I'd still like to try it and see what the hoopla is about.

Probably ingredient sourcing/freshness factors. Uniformity in restaurants is a bitch to maintain. I mean, it's not like a company could source all it's.. let's say potatoes from another county.. let's say Russia so that they're ALL freeze dried dog shit.. oh wait..

As strange as this sounds... some franchise places choose different suppliers for burgers. I know, it's absurd and unbelievable. But hear me out...

I worked at DQ in high school. We got burgers right before I left, and we bought them from the same supplier as the Hardee's nearby did. Reportedly this supplier was the burger supplier for a couple different fast food joints only locally. Is it 100% confirmed? Nope, but that's what my manager said. They were the only Hardee's in town, so maybe they made their own rules? If I was Hardee's corporate I'd lay the smackdown on that, but whatevs.

Long story short, maybe the place in Mizzou really didn't have the same burgers. Very likely.

Agree this is the main reason InNOut is still my top burger chain... you can get three burgers at INO for the price of one at Five Guys...

INO is great for fast food, but if it's been built up as some holy burger that kills all anywhere you'll find it disappointing, compare it to other common burgers(MCDs, BurgerK etc.) and you'll see where it gets it's rep. Much better than other main chains, but it's still just a fast food joint.

I do, sort of...was pretty young. But from what I do recall it was a roast beef joint, correct? I also remember it have a salad bar.

What used to be Rax is now a Fazolli's where I live.

Agree this is the main reason InNOut is still my top burger chain... you can get three burgers at INO for the price of one at Five Guys...

INO is great for fast food, but if it's been built up as some holy burger that kills all anywhere you'll find it disappointing, compare it to other common burgers(MCDs, BurgerK etc.) and you'll see where it gets it's rep. Much better than other main chains.

Plus it's got a mad large 'secret' menu. Just adds to the mystique. 3x3 medium rare protein style and a large diet coke, please! Or Animal Style if you're not on atkins like I presently am.

ps the only fast food i like is McDowells in Queens.

All of mine are in the IE... I don't believe I've ever eaten Calr's in LA (When I go to LA I eat things I can only get there, Roscoe's, K-Town Korean joints, seaside seafood joints etc.)

Also, to clarify, i wouldn't call InNOut a major national chain... My statement was comparing jack, Carl's/Hardees, McD's, Wendy's all the big names.. of THAT group, I'll take Carl's. I'll take INO over any of them though.

Wendy's quality dropped greatly once Dave Thomas died. The burgers shrunk and the freshness of the product dropped way off. Frostys are still awesome though.
