I think the NFL comes with it's own set of problems exceeding ND. The process has been handled poorly and progress is frustratingly slow. But, it's an atypical situation for sure. So, from a 'stress' perspective, ND is a known quantity and frankly, in a objective sense, this incident is fairly small in scale when you consider what the NFL has on it's hands currently.

But, in the off chance he's gone, my of potential replacement list is:

How is Kelly going to handle the situation with future recruits and their parents? Maybe he has a great explanation. Maybe he doesn't. That strikes me as more important than what another coach may say about the program.

Neither call went anything like that. They were polite and apologetic and gave the generic, 'we don't know anything, it's all up to the committee' answers.

Since you brought it up, you're the parent of a student, maybe you could make a call? You have as much skin in the game as anyone (i.ee, future tuition bills).

I'm an alum. My opinion is that I don't know enough right now to feel strongly one way or the other. I wish it would be over but I can imagine there are valid reasons why it isn't. I might get in on this game if everything comes out and I personally feel that there was something significantly wrong with the way current students were treated. Right now, however, I would kind of feel like Abe Simpson here.

But if their phone/email lines get hammered by alumnis and their student center is filled with students wanting answers, who knows?

Daniels dad may have a right to be upset but taking it public is not the best response. The university owes him an explanation as to where they are in the process. His tweet makes it appear that he is not being kept in the loop on where they are on the process, and if that's the case, the school probably should do a better job of that. With all that said, his son apparently put himself in the whole situation to begin with so he should be more upset with that than the process anyway.

On a serious note, I wouldn't expect them to do anything but be polite when they answered the phone. I doubt very much that your call went any further than the receptionist. I would love to have resolution as much as the next guy, but if you haven't figured out that nothing anyone does is going to speed up the process, you're going to give yourself gray hair for nothing. Have a beer and relax.

BTW....I have no skin in the game. My kids are all graduated from Purdue and IU and the youngest is older than you by 3-4 years.
