Possibly the investigation brought to light some issues Notre Dame wants to have a game plan for addressing prior to more people being privy to all of the findings? I can't imagine any university (us. Stanford, etc)wanting to discuss exactly how they manage to graduate so many kids that wouldn't normally qualify for admission.
