Id rather get nickle and dimed the few times i have to replace a part instead of having to buy a new laptop every two years when Dells usually crap out. Also for art and design stuff there is no comparison to Apple.

I've had my MacBook since 2008. The only software upgrade that's ever been crucial was $20 for Snow Leopard, and that was simply so I could properly setup my iPhone5 via an iTunes update. I also had to upgrade something when I bought my first new charger, which has since broken like the original one did.

Hey guys, my first post and I have kept up with this thread. I also have a name on NDNation that someone referred to at the beginning of this thread as being reputable source before the news broke. I wanted to drop my 2 cents for thought, which may calm some.
There are some expressing concern on behalf of the player's sake, which is fair. I think that the opposite could be true in the delay though. It may be possible that they want to do everything possible for a fair shake before expelling Davaris Daniels and Kendall Moore, taking their opportunity to pursue a degree from Notre Dame away. As football fans, we would like expediency and a resulting innocent decision so that these players can help the Irish beat Michigan. As Notre Dame family, we want to give these young men the best education and chance to use that education. You know, the whole 40 year decision that we preach so often. But hey, the game this week is important enough that we should rush a decision that will impact their lives much more

In my experience, probably not you since you seem reasonable, this is largely a bias people who have bought Macs usually create. For example let's go with *sigh* my girlfriend. She buys a shitty $300 dollar Dell (the kind with the exchangeable faceplates *shudder), treats it like crap, and after 3 years she starts have difficulties. She then decides that she wants a MacBook because they look pretty and are stylish. She then buys a $1,700 MacBook and treats it like it's made of eggshells. It has run well for the last two years.

She says this is proof that Macs are superior to PCs.

This is why I want to headbutt my wall on a daily basis.

I guess my point is, people who buy PCs try to go bargain bin shopping and are SHOCKED when it doesn't run the same as a premium experience. Spend 1,700 on a toshiba satellite and you'll get a machine that can purr.

Awesome that's how the real world works, but when did "real world" = "academia" .. Hell, half the education you learn in college is philosophical and theory based. How often does that shit apply to "real world"?

Another thing, sources are only as reliable as your gullibility allows them to be. I don't care if you're Jimmy, TP, some guy named Chiro; they're still random people who post on a message board. Trust me... I wasn't relying on James's updates. Far from the truth. But when he bitches and moans, he's going to take it from the masses. I think his point is that the evidence may be overwhelmingly negative and "expulsion-worthy" but rather than rush the decision, Notre Dame may be looking at all possible ways to avoid that result as to not cause the student-athletes to lose their opportunity to graduate from ND.

It could be a scenario where the facts weigh strongly in favor of expulsion and Notre Dame is giving it a thorough hearing, talking about any benefits of the doubt that may be extended, etc. If you're going to expel someone, I think you owe them a thorough due process.
