Really sad. Apparently struggled with mental health and lost a son to suicide. RIP Sinead.

From The Daily Mail

The Irish singer shot to stardom across the world in 1990 by her heartrending cover of Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U.

It comes a year after the mother-of-four's son Shane, 17, took his own life in January 2022 after escaping hospital while on suicide watch.

At the time of her death, the musician, who changed her name to Shuhada' Sadaqat in 2018 when she converted to Islam, was thought to be spending her time between Co Roscommon, Ireland, and London.

In her last Tweet, O'Connor posted a photo of Shane and said: 'Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul.

Her first album was a big deal with the college set. The song Mandinka was the cut off of Lion & the Cobra.

But this was the first time I ever saw her backing up Karl Wallinger's World Party. (Hugely under appreciated band to this day)

RIP

Lion & the Cobra didn't chart as well as I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got because of "Nothing Compares 2 U" but Lion is the better album.

Rasputin will employ the artes prohibitae on anyone that doesn't believe that "Troy" from Lion is her masterpiece. Her most powerful moment as a signer/songwriter.

So sad that Ireland lost two of their great female voices of the 80s and 90s (Sinead O'Connor and Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries) to suicide at such young ages. Tragic.

I'll roll with Drink Before the War as her Everest but Troy's great, so is I Want Your Hands On Me if you just beat up an 8 ball in the bathroom and are heading right back to the dance floor at 4am.

Sad loss.

Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman has passed. IIRC he was arrested for exposing himself.

Yup, basically ruined his career in the early 90s for playing pocket pool in an adult theatre.
I didn't know this, but he was later arrested in 2002 for having "kitsch" pornography depicting teens. The charge was later reduced because I guess the teens weren't doing anything pornographic, they were "artistic" nude pictures from the 60s or some BS so he got the charges reduced on a plea bargain.

Didn't know he was fighting cancer. Used to watch Pee Wee Playhouse every morning in the 80s and we watched the movies.

Mark Margolis, who played the wheelchair-bound Mexican drug overlord Hector Salamanca on Breaking Bad, died on Thursday at the age of 83. Margolis had a long and varied career as a character actor in Scarface, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Requiem For A Dream, and countless other movies and shows. He was nominated for an Emmy for his role as Salamanca despite having virtually no lines due to his character having suffered a major stroke.

Guitar legend, The Band co-founder, and Dylan guitarist Robbie Robertson passed away yesterday at the age of 80. He wrote several hits including The Weight, Up On Cripple Creek, and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.

Robertson was never flashy or a shredder, but was an extraordinary guitarist who was frequently mentioned by Clapton and many others as one of their favorite and most talented peers. A real guitarist's guitarist. He also worked with Martin Scorsese on more than a dozen films and was one of Scorsese's closest friends.

One of the best to ever do it. His self titled album is one of my top 10 all time. It was part of Daniel Lanois’ holy trinity that he did back to back to back with Peter Gabriel’s So and U2’s Joshua Tree in 86-87.

If you’ve never listened to this front to back, you’re missing out.

One of those character actors you don't know their name, but you immediately know who there are if you know what I mean. RIP
