I've answered this probably a dozen times. No justice no peace.

So no peace for innocent ppl who had nothing to do with any part of the situations?? So you protest for what you claim is innocent lives lost by disrupting other innocent ppl's lives? Seems kinda silly and misguided..... Go protest at city hall or court house.... go protest down at the governor's mansion....

Wait wait wait. So you are telling me that people should go out on a dangerous highway, risking their lives in a completely unnecessary way to get support for the cause, but in turn, they will drum up unwanted anger towards their protests, which will further cause tension amongst the people of our country, and will not get the outcome they desire?

There a dozen more appropriate and successful ways to go about this. Stopping traffic on highways is not one of them.

Translation: when unhappy, do stuff that is illegal and negatively affects people who were in no way involved with the actions you're protesting.

Seems like a foolproof plan to garner support and understanding for your cause.

I just don't think there is much to be gained by protesters stopping traffic in main streets and highways. Sure, it helps the protest gain attention, but I don't think its going to make people sympathize with the movement. Protesters are fed up with law enforcement and the judicial system, but the only people being affected by these protests are random people driving right now.

Maybe all the protesters care about is getting attnention, but inconveniencing people's lives isn't really the best way to go about it IMO.

You're so tough. They've arrested the people who have hit the protesters so you'd get arrested too. This concern for human life is consistent for what you've shown over this whole thread.

Its fucking illegal for pedestrians to be on highways, but consistent with your views in this thread you don't think the law should apply to you, the protestors, the rioters, the looters, or the criminals. Because the law is racist.

I'm beginning to believe that NJ/NP is nothing more than a troll and am finding that these protesters are factually misguided, illogical, and just trying to drive a racist agenda; no matter who it hurts, bothers, disrupts, and destroys....if anything, THEY are the real racist's, IMHO.....

Mike Brown was a thug who just robbed a store, told a cop to F off and then fought with the cop and reached for his service weapon....The race factor in him getting shot was ZERO....if a a white guy had done the same thing, the result would still be the same...

As for Eric Garner, a black police officer was the superior officer on that scene...I agree what happened to him was senseless and was perhaps an abuse of power or the use of force in making him comply went over the edge....HOWEVER....again, the race factor in the Garner case is the same percentage as the Brown case: ZERO....

Both Brown and Garner resisted....Brown was told to stop several times while he was charging Officer Wilson...Brown could have complied...He didn't....He paid for it with his life...
Garner was also resisting and arguing with police...if he would have just complied, he too would be alive....is it the NYPD's fault that Garner was obese and had a heart condition? When Garner was transported to the hospital, he was unconscious, but breathing on his own....perhaps his own bad habits put his life more in jeopardy than most who are struggling and wrestling around with police....Where I come from, you don't tell the police to F off or go for their service weapons or resist and fight with them...That isn't a race issue; it's a culture issue....who thinks it's ok to do those things?

So tired of ppl like NJ/NP pushing some racially charged BS agenda that lacks facts, common sense, or honesty.....quit spreading hate and division thru misinformation....you are the one causing more problems and resentment than anyone else....how does that help us grow together and become stronger? It doesn't.

Did the sit-ins make the people who wanted to sit there support the cause? Sorry civil disobedience is uncomfortable. That's the point.

Sit ins weren't illegal. Night and day situation.

Standing/sitting on the freeway and obstructing traffic IS illegal.

You're not going to budge him on this one anymore than the rest of us have. According to NJNP, it seems that "injustice" can only be fought by breaking laws: Protesting in the streets without a permit and violent protests (So their voice will be heard). There are no other options according to him, the most extreme response is valid even if it's completely illogical and is against the law.

Negative.... The media wouldn't have gotten involved and everyone would have went on their merry way through life...
There would have been zero looting, protesting, etc. No dumbasses (white or black) walking down the middle of the f-ing interstate making life miserable for whomever might be on that particular roadway regardless of their race. There would be no dumbass thread on IE to argue this shit. An no NJNP....

In Durham the sit-in protesters were arrested and charged for trespassing. Civil disobedience pretty much has to be illegal. It's the definition of it.

The problem is civil disobedience and protest are not mutually exclusive. You can protest without breaking laws and being a douche bag to your community.

Except protesting while breaking laws is the way to affect people. People are disrupting the natural order because their natural order is being disrupted. Sorry it's uncomfortable for you.

People are more upset over traffic than they are about than unarmed men and kids being killed by law enforcement. People care more about themselves and property than human lives.

I think the poster meant the result would have been the same in that the white perpetrator would have been shot. You're right, that would not make any national news and none of the other bullshit would subsequently occur.

You are truly ignorant if you honestly believe the current state of racial relations is even remotely similar the struggles of African Americans during the Civil Rights Era.

Again, missing a key difference here.

That sit-in occurred at a racially segregated place. It was TARGETED at an offending party that was directly contributing to a problem they were protesting against.

These protesters aren't laying down in the parking lots of police stations (would actually make sense)... they're laying down on highways where 99.99999% of the people are NOT the offending party. As such, they're just alienating and pissing off people who in a different set of circumstances might've been sympathetic to their plight.

Right. Sit-in at a segregated restaurant. Protest at a police station if you think police are racist. Protest in front of congress if you think the government is racist. Blocking non-racists as they go about their business is absurd.

It's not as bad but it's still bad. People are apathetic about the plight of others and the protests make them confront this apathy or hatred.

The best example was Birmingham where the leaders went, intentionally broke laws, and made the world confront the issues at hand. If there were no protests that wouldn't get huge attention, Obama wouldn't be pushing for body cams and the UN wouldn't have shown concern.

Because racism is subtle and disguised now does not mean it's gone. This whole situation has made it clear. You may not care about the well being of others but this shows how many people do.
