REES = Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers!!!

REES = Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers!!!

Sorry folks, but I getting really really fed up with the HORRIBLE throws this kid is making. He threw a terrible interception on the goal line yesterday. For all you people that want to tell me that he came back with a winning drive. I will tell you that his TD throw to Effeirt was a TERRIBLE throw. That was a split second from an INT. He threw that ball into triple coverage.

I will be the one to tell you that I would be happy to take some of Crist's inaccuracies for less INT's. Atleast with an inaccurate throw, you get another chance. Further, Crist can run some and take those hits in the pocket without fumbling every time.

It is getting obvious that Kelly is going to ride the Rees turnover machine into the sunset. For those folks giving me that 6-1 crap, I will tell you that Tommy was not the reason we beat USC or Miami and was a direct reason we lost to UM.

At USC, Tommy threw multiple HORRIBLE INT's. At Miami, our Defense got multiple turnovers. At Michigan, Tommy threw terrible INT's and fumbled on the goal line. Further, he was part of the problem at USF. He threw a couple BAD INT's.

The kid is a gamer, but he is NOT taking ND to any BCS game. Teams are figuring out real fast that he can't run, canNOT throw a ball beyond 25 yards, stares down receivers, throws to MF 80% of the time. Our dink and dunk offense is going to start to struggle more and more, week by week.

If ND's offense struggles at Purdue, I believe it will be time Kelly swallows his big ego and get another QB ready.

They have been excellent this year, but the Michigan loss is squarely on the defense's shoulders.

3 plays
80 yards
28 seconds

35-31, Michigan.

What if we throw one of the young guys out there and things go terribly? They're young kids and it could destroy their confidence moving forward. Kelly is waiting until they are ready. Hendrix will (hopefully) get his feet wet w/ some game experience if we can build a comfortable lead and Golson should save a year of eligibility. I really don't know why some of you want Golson out there now when we can potentially have him for four more years instead of three. Golson has an amazing skillset, but QB is by far the most difficult position for a frosh to succeed. He needs time to learn without worrying about game prep.

I'll repeat my opening comment, I don't care who plays QB, just want someone to play it! Don't care which of the four it is.

Yeah and apparently it's pretty difficult......

I honestly think Rees may be the 4th best QB on NDs roster. A great backup though.
Can you imagine this offense with a running QB- there would be NO stopping it most times except for turnovers!!!!!

From an IrishSportsDaily.com freebie interview with Kelly.
Q. In terms of quarterback play, Tommy has played all the downs pretty much since you made the quarterback switch. How important is it for to you get a look at some other people in game action?
COACH KELLY: At quarterback?

Q. Yeah, quarterback. If the circumstances dictated that. COACH KELLY: Yeah, I mean, right now, Tommy is 6 1 as a starter. You know, he's led two very huge drives for us late in the game against Michigan and of course against Pittsburgh. He's obviously not a finished product; nobody is. He'll continue to get better and better and we'll continue to help him in terms of play calling and getting him in the right kind of situation so he can be successful.
But no, there's we're not in a situation right now where we need to think about what other quarterbacks are going to get in the game. Tommy is the starter.

Q. I meant more from a depth standpoint.
COACH KELLY: Yeah, when we get up by three or four scores, yeah, we think about getting somebody in there. But I don't think that we are in a situation where we need to worry about the depth at that position, because we have got Dayne who can go in there and do very well for us.

I agree with Jonesy... I trust BK to make the necessary moves to make this team win, but what does our QB execution say about the "talent" or development of our "talent" at the position. He is directly responsible for 9-our 15 turnovers, I have to believe that his great intangibles don't trump that. We will lose 3 more games this year if we can't clean up our QB situation. The facts are he is 6-1 as a starter, and he would not be starting for most of the BCS caliber teams in the country. Tommy is obviously the best option we have at that position, which scares me for our QB development as a program. Here's hoping he pulls his head out of his butt long enough to cherish a comeback win over a capable program, instead of cherishing comeback drives against horrible defenses.

Amen. Can't we just celebrate the win. If Rees starts losing games then maybe it's time to look elsewhere.

Like another poster said, you want to pull a kid who is 6-1?

So we will wait until he is 8-5 as a starter and give a big ole bear hug to mediocrity

Kmoose- really, what are you thinking? Rees doesnt turn the ball over in the red zone twice that game himself plus one other time that gave Michigan points and ND demolishes Michigan- I was at the game- put in the tape-Christmas came early to UM courtesy of T. REES no denying it -Sorry.

I hope Tommy improves Because brian Kelly is attached at the hip to Tommy Rees. jonas Grey doesnt fumble in opener and I bet Christ has Heisman consideration? No?

We do not "need" anything more from Rees in terms of abilities. What we need is for him to stop turning the ball over. That is it. If he plays smart this team can beat anyone on the schedule

There is truth to both arguments, if Tommy takes care of the ball, and doesn't make a blooper video with his fumble our defense doesn't have to make big stop, after big stop, then fail. However, the Irish Defense should be held accountable for their lack of execution when it mattered.

As for Christ, I believe he would win the Heisman every year, I mean the guy could turn water into wine, save our souls, and had a really good 40 time. just kidding, but you would have to think, he would have been a Golden Domer if there was college football back then. New thread perhaps?

Who cares its a win! As a Notre Dame fan I support whoever is back there making the snaps. Obviously BK knows what he is doing, Tommy is still a young QB, we need to remember that he'll mature as the year goes on. And Rees is the reason we lost the UM game... give me a break!! Last time I checked football is a team effort and win and lose as a team the UM game everyone made mistake not just Tommy.

Being happy with a 15-12 comeback win against a Big East team with statistically one of the worst pass defenses in the country says about all we need to say about our fan base I guess.

I think everyone agrees we need to stop turnovers-but when will it stop- Last year USC-no, this year USF, MI, MSU, PITT--NO, NO, NO, and NO

Some days are off days and the key on those days is to find a way to win. That is a game that in years past we would have found a way to lose.

All this complaining is stupid. ND fans would find a way to complain about how Bob Stoops or another top coach is running the team. BTW we have a top coach. Until one of these complainers are actually named the ND coach, get over it. Trust Kelly and the staff with what they are doing.

Comment above about how our offense would be unstoppable except by turnovers if we had a running QB. Heck, it's unstoppable now without turnovers. Kelly and his system are holding up their part of the bargain. Cincinnati with Pike [if it needs to be said again ad nauseum] was essentially unstoppable with a leadfoot at the controls.

Can you tell me Rees stats for the Miami game? I think not because if you could you wouldn't include that game in here. 15/29 201 yards 2 tds and 0 int. Sounds like a game I would take from my QB just about anyday.

You can put Christ on your Heisman ballot if you want, but it's unlikely to do Crist any good.

Tebow is in the NFL now and already won the Heisman.
