The "foot" was a mediaeval measurement to assess property lines and the standard allegedly was the King's foot. That foot was divided by twelve because twelve is the most arithmetically useful number of divisions [being divisible by two, three, four, six, and itself] . Thus this became the "ruler" [King's measure/ ruler ...Get it??].All this is of course baloney that I learned by PMing Neutered and Johnny so don't believe a word of it. {the next handiest number is sixty, as it is divisible by all those plus six, ten, fifteen, twenty, thirty, etc etc and is why the ancient Babylonians gave us sixty second minutes and sixty minute hours over five thousand years ago}.
My question: was that all B.S., or an internet conspiracy??
