Didn't see that anywhere during the video, could be a "#1." Not definitive proof really.

Looking at the video, you can see the camera man taking his picture at 10:50, it's in the exact spot where the fans are above him in the picture. I think the picture is just timed perfectly, he's reaching up to give high 5s at the same time. If he was really "shushing" it would have been so incredibly fast prior to slapping hands...I just don't think it happened. It's far more likely the camera just got the shot by coincidence.

Correct. Charlie also worked like hell in recruiting. I’ve never seen anyone who follows/reports on ND that says Kelly is a great recruiter or puts a lot of work in.

This. It seems really rare that BK is out hitting the recruiting trail. Every time I'm on one of the player prospect threads I rarely see them talking about BK visiting, it's always a position coach, or at most an OC/DC. He has to do better, especially for the elite guys. They don't wanna see position coaches, or "lower level management", they wanna talk to the CEO. I'm sure that gives the kids an air of importance, and they need to have that when calculating a decision of that magnitude.

It's when he first runs into the corner and the view moves from side to behind him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZmPw3aKeX4

It's at 2:53:05. If you don't think the photo is convincing this probably won't sway you either but it will show you where/when the gesture occurred.

Yeah, it's a better shot, but it cuts out before anyone can really discern what he was doing. Still could just as likely be a #1, and given how quickly he's giving high 5s afterwards I'm still leaning that direction. Why show negativity and then immediately start slapping hands? It's not like Book has a history of arrogant or classless behavior. People are just starting shit.

He was not putting his hand up to give high fives when that shot was taken. He goes probably about 10 feet or so before finally slapping someone's hand.

Like you said, it could've been a number 1 sign, because he was excited about the winning touchdown. It really is hard to tell for sure. Who knows.

It's hard to tell from the still shot where his finger is. Yes at first glance it could be right up against his face mask. It could also be further to the left and away from the face mask. Depth of field in this shot makes it hard to tell for sure.

Who puts a #1 to their facemask...over their mouth? C'mon man lol

Why would he shush the crowd to be an ass and then give high 5's? Which version do you think is more likely? If this was Clausen, I'd take your side. Book has been rather humble.

I'm happy for him and I really don't care if he did or didn't do it. You saw how the team reacted and that's what matters. They believe in him and that's what's important. If anything, it should galvanize the team going forward.

I hope so, that last drive was impressive, and they started out taking some shots deep. Just win 10, get into the Cotton/Orange Bowl and keep recruiting rolling.

He was definitely shushing. The man shushed in person and then posted an image of him scoring with the shush emoji on Twitter. That doesn't mean he was shushing the crowd. He could be shushing:

1) His haters
2) The national media
3) Va Tech's defense who may have been talking
4) Literally anything

This..... Ridiculous to say he’s not hushing. Perhaps it was half-hearted or he was unsure about doing it and that’s why it was so quick. I believe a QB change should happen. That being said I wouldn’t boo him or anyone else on the team I love. I support Book and truly want him to be great every play, even if I am not of the belief (anymore) that he’s the guy. All that being said, I really have no issue with the hushing after the emotional roller coaster he’s been on recently. He’s dealing with A LOT and he’s doing his best. People get offended too easily

Yeah, I'm not even sure why a discussion about the whole thing had to begin. Stupidest thing I've taken part in all week, and I want that wasted time back.

You honestly can't imagine a scenario where he's "hushing" the critics AND celebrating with the fans who are cheering him on? Come on man, you can't be this dense.

Book hasn't been petty or egotistical up to this point, logic would say that's rather out of character for him. Sure though, I'm dense.

Book is 75% of the problem. Long is the other 50%...

Having a hard time understanding why you're ignoring the obvious and doubling down on your feelings. He's human. He heard the critics and the boo birds. He had the nuts on that last drive. He let everyone know it. End of story. Doesn't make him pretty or egotistical. Again, just human.

Book absolutely was hushing the haters. Anyone that sees that otherwise, IMO, just doesn't understand why that actually makes sense. You have to have some thick skin to be at ND.

BK has 11 weeks in the top 5 of the CFP. That is tied for 3rd as it stands right now. People want him fired!

Do you think he struggles to sleep at night because of it? No. He knows what he is still building and it's greater than ever before.

Book is doing his thing. He should rock a confidence, hush ALL crowds, and work towards a monster 2020. We're set up for playoff or bust next year. If we lose 3, maybe then it is time to consider options. Right now? Let's get some frikin swagger.

I'm not so sure Book's the right guy for 2020, but a 100% agree with everything else you said.

Prior to seeing Book posting the Twitter emoji, no, not really. Like I said, he's been pretty humble in his time here thus far. Seemed rather out of character for him. There's also the fact there wasn't a clear video shot of him doing it, and it would have been super short anyway given he's slapping hands with fans almost immediately after.

He endured a pretty bad week. ND QBs are held to a higher standard than most, fairly or unfairly, and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get death threats like Tommy used to receive. I could see where a heap of criticism (Some fair, some not so fair) would prompt someone to silence the whispers. My previous comment was defending that stance, now I honestly don't care.
