For those fearing that starting Phil now will just speed up the regression, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. Playing him now isn't going to change things. Best to find out what ND has in Jurkovec and get him some legitimate experience, rather than going in blind next season.
We knew in 2017 that Wimbush struggled initially to pass the football but not seeing him at all in 2016 made it so we also didn't anticipate him not improving later in the year.
I'd rather Phil get his feet wet and have some experience and positive momentum going into the offseason, rather than expecting him to take over the offense without any sort of buffer in 2020.
I'd understand the hesitancy to do so if Book was at least solid, but that simply isn't it. He's been horrible against anything close to resembling a decent defense this year. Change is needed.
If Phil stagnates, then that's probably an overdue signal that Kelly needs to step down and we need a fresh face to take over.
