@TorontoGold check out this straw man argument 😂
Don’t be a hypocrite, Bishop. If you can’t or don’t want to answer then don’t but this unbecoming.
Your argument that if we deport all the illegals, then who'll do the low paying jobs that nobody else wants such as picking crops, is the same your party - you know, the party of slavery, Jim Crow, the Ku Klux Klan, segregation, and opposing the Civil Rights Act - made 165 years ago when they asked who'd pick the cotton if we freed the slaves. You should be mad at your party for doing that instead of me for pointing it out.

That’s not my argument and you’re being purposely obtuse. And nice try by the Southern man trying to blame Southern evil- slavery, Jim Crow, the Klan, and segregation- on a political party. You even tried to throw in opposition to the Civil Rights Act even though you know it was Johnson and the Democrats that passed it.

It most certainly is your argument. You asked who'd do the jobs if we sent the illegals back. If you want my answer to the question now that pointed out the inherent problem with it, it's this: there are plenty of hard working people born here or who came here legally who'll do those jobs. When you can't pay illegals virtual slave wages, the legal workers will do the work for higher market wages. The increased labor costs will be more than offset by a huge reduction in welfare, school, infrastructure, and other costs from several million illegal residents and the strain they put on our resources.

This is not true and has been covered multiple times in these threads.
The study finds that undocumented immigrants contributed $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022
vs
Based on their use rate of major welfare programs, we estimate that illegal immigrants receive $42 billion in benefits

UNEMPLOYMENT IS AT 4.1% ANYONE WHO WANTS A JOB, HAS A JOB! THAT IS THE ARGUMENT I VERY CLEARLY LAID OUT FOR YOU. To suggest otherwise is a false equivalency. Also, explain how the Democratic Party opposed the Civil Rights Act. Try to do it without bringing up Dixiecrats.

How would an illegal person in this country pay taxes without immediately being deported? Or are they talking about the companies profits?

The Social Security Administration has finally released the final wage statistics for 2023, and they are quite sobering.

According to the report, last year the “median wage” in this country was just $43,222.81. In other words, half of all American workers made less than $43,222.81, and half of all American workers made more than $43,222.81.

That is terrible news, because the cost of living has been rising much faster than paycheck have. More people are being squeezed out of the middle class with each passing day, but most Americans don’t even realize that this is happening because the media isn’t really talking about it.

Poverty, homelessness and hunger are all growing all around us, and if we stay on the path that we are on the middle class will continue to be systematically eviscerated.

Dude, this argument that you constantly trot out is dumb as shit and historically inaccurate.

The GOP began to court southern democrats as early as the late 1940’s due to the “Dixiecrats” disillusionment with Truman over civil rights and that eventually led to the realignment of said southern democrats with the GOP in the 60’s.

Have you ever encountered sales taxes before?

Illegal immigrants pay way more in taxes than any benefits they receive.

This is a rather scathing review of late stage American capitalism. Bravo!

Would take a lot of funds and take a lot of effort to locate all these individuals. Will be a bit surprised if he can get even half of that number deported in 4 years.
Maybe we can use all of the funds they have been receiving while here to help with the process. That would probably be a wash and then once removed the funds would not be going out. A good majority of the recent immigrants are not working or contributing in any way.

Who would have guessed!!?
Yeah maybe we should actually give money from government contracts to the company that is actually rapidly providing internet connectivity to rural areas instead of burning the billions of dollars that the Biden admin spent to connect zero people to the internet

Libs now mad about funding space?
No, I'm just baffled because I was told Trump knew nothing about Project 2025 or anyone that was involved with it!

I'm sure he'll be grabbing some fun bits from it.

Isn't it like an ultra conservative wishlist? Dude doesn't even oppose abortion. Most moderate president we'll probably ever have in our lifetimes.

Yeah, I mentioned it on the other page, but I read a summary that says there's portions of P2025 that line up with Trump's platform, but by and large not all of it, and there's a lot more in P2025 than what Trump was running on. Project 2025 is 900+ pages after all. I did say that as soon as one of those items lined up there would be an "Ah ha! We knew it!" It stands to reason that some Heritage Foundation people that formerly worked on Trump's staff will probably return now that he's back in office. If he starts talking about banning porn or locking people up for mailing abortion medication then I'd be worried the P2025 Boogeyman is real.

I think once you boil 2024 down, Kamala lost for two or three reasons.

1) Biden's presidency was a failure. He was elected to turn down the temperature and be a steady hand. He ended up trying to be the next LBJ or New Deal guy. Kamala played a role in hiding his troubles and people doing like being lied to about the boss being infirm.

2) Kamala is no one. She's a "career prosecutor" without a record of prosecuting anything. She has no views on anything other than orange man bad and baby killing is good. She's incapable of answering the most basic questions, to the point friendly media was at a loss for words.

3) the weird "woke" stuff isn't in vogue anymore. The tranny stuff is a 80/20 issue and even dems have started admitting it. The #MeToo stuff is dead. The soft on crime stuff got nuked in California.

That she kept it relatively close is a testament to partisan politics. She's a NPC from an Elder Scrolls game. Nothing to her beyond.

P.S. I think abortion is dying as a national message. States are doing their own thing. I doubt I'll be happy with the end result most places. But if/when abortion is off the board I can imagine a realignment happening.
