Much better to be run by states that are economic dead weight, can’t keep their own power grids on line, and lead the nation in per capita murders, overdoses, incarcerations, maternal mortality, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Yes let’s let those handmaids tale shitholes lead us!
Nice deflection and what aboutism. Have you seen Portland, SF, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, and etc.? They're shitholes of crime, and homelessness, lawlessness, and people literally shitting in the streets. Know what they have in common? Your democrat party controls them from top to bottom: the city council, the school board, the public works, the PD, the mayor's office, the county government, the governor's office, the state legislature, and the state's Senate & Congressional delegation. They can run things as they please and put their policies into action with no meaningful resistance at any level... and look at how that works out. THAT'S why the last thing we need is dems running the country. Look at the results of them running any major city.

This is the result of dem control and policies:

Whenever you ask people from around the world where they like to visit it's always Gary Indiana, skip Chicago!

Oh I like this one.

For Americans who are relocating, are they fleeing Texas and Florida by the thousands for California and NY? The answer is no, it's the other way around and it isn't close. In the past few years, California has lost more people than it gained (Illinois and New York close behind), meanwhile Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina have seen huge increases.

So regardless of how you personally perceive traditionally red states, people who are moving disagree with you.

Disagree with what? Everything I posted was a statistical fact. Rich people moving to red states to avoid income tax doesn't mean they want the leaders of their new states, that are all net drains on the economy, to be the ones leading the country.

Not sure is NBC is allowed as a resource for MAGA but people are leaving FL in droves.

It's not a deflection. When you make a statement like yours about a two party race you're obviously endorsing the opposing side. It's worth pointing out that for all blue states faults, and there are plenty, they still lead in the majority of important measurable.

The people moving disagree with your sentiment and point of view. The numbers show that if you care to take 15 seconds and google it.

People of all classes and races are moving to red states but taxes aren't the only reason. This is just being obtuse.

Did you read the article? The report from 2022 data shows that Florida gained 700,000 and lost 500,000 in that year. We call that a net positive my friend.

Want to compare that with California, NY, NJ, and IL?

Of course tax isn't the only reason. COL is also lower in poor states.

Let's face it, though, it's a very big one, and I can understand it when it comes to being retired. Not to mention the weather. The main reasons people are leaving Illinois are work and retirement. Nobody wants to talk about that. It sounds better if you make believe everyone is fleeing a war zone.

If I buy a $300K house and my property taxes are $860, while that sounds really nice, I have to question some things about the area I'm living in. I would also want to make sure I have access to doctors nearby as opposed to an hour plus drive, if not longer. Especially if I'm retired and going into my golden years. I have great hospitals in the suburbs and even better ones in the city I have access to quickly. Some quack in East Ohio told my grandfather he had a sore throat for about a year. A doctor in Pittsburgh diagnosed him with throat cancer. He'd probably be dead if we hadn't taken him to the Dem run city in Western PA to see a real doctor.

I've been to the city (Chicago) multiple times this year. I've also visited CA, WI, IN, OH, PA and WV. In that small sample size, not a whole hell of a lot of difference. Homeless people about, some rot as it pertains to both residential and commercial buildings, crime but above all across the board a lot of good people who are just trying to do what they can to make it and fulfill their end of the social contract. Ultimately, though, nobody really gives a shit about Chicago or it's problems if it doesn't fit the Fox News narrative.

The irony of it all is that in the world class cities (also known as Dem run) - the rot of the city isn't caused by "progressive policies" it's be neoliberalism and unfettered late stage capitalism that has eroded the middle class. Nobody gives a shit about a pride flag at city hall when they're sleeping on the streets, but because Tv man tells Joe 3XL in Ohio that San Fran is a shit hole because of woke it's an easy narrative. Rather than.....what did you expect when you allowed corporations to run kingdoms in these cities and PE firms buy up all the real estate.

Illinois had a Republican governor from 1977-2003. The state was being run by Republicans for most of the 90s. The state voted for Reagan twice and GHW Bush.

Both parties have managed to do damage here in my lifetime. Rahm Emmanuel may have a (D) after his name, but if you want to talk about neoliberal policies that set off a dumpster fire there are books written about Mayor 1% Wreck It Rahm that'll tell you this wasn't FDR New Deal shit this guy was doing. He sucked. I haven't lived in the city since 2003, but what's good for them is good for me, same as what's good for the people in Quincy IL and in Galesburg IL is good for me too. A rural school closes, that sucks. A business shutters in Chicago, that sucks too. It may not impact me directly, but indirectly it isn't good overall.

Consequently, so did Governor Bruce Rauner (R), who found out right quick the state legislature isn't a private equity board you can push people around in.

Parents live in the suburbs of Chicago, and Dad is a recently retired county sheriff. They're looking to retire to South Carolina, due to cheaper cost of living for their retirement years. My dad is the one pushing the move because of the property taxes they currently pay. Mom quickly realized all benefits of their current area they'd be giving up but moving to a more rural area

My uncle took his millions and ran from Wheaton IL to Valpo IN. Two years later he has a stroke. Then he gets Covid and the aftermath left him with all sorts of issues.

Wanna guess where he goes to the doctor?

I think it is part of why my parents haven't left. That and the grandkids. My dad has heart stuff, beetus, etc. and his doctors are all here. For as much as they bitch about their property taxes and all that, they're still around.

I have another uncle who retired to South Carolina and I think he has to see a specialist in Atlanta for his diabetes.

To each their own, man. If you don't like where you live and want to move, whether it's taxes or politics or climate, just go if it makes you happy. My village has a library with books, our streets get fixed and plowed in the winter, I'm not near Chicago or Cook County and our schools are not banning literature nor do they have litter boxes in the bathrooms. I'm good. In ten years when my youngest gets out of HS, maybe we'll see.

Is it late stage capitalism that decriminalized theft and is forcing retailers to flee cities because their stores are being regularly looted?
