Shapiro being an openly practicing Jew is obstensibly the only reason he wasn't picked for the job. He is considerably more moderate than Walz and Kamala, and has high popularity in the single most important swing state in 2024.

It's actually a widely shared belief among economists and people much smarter than me. Silly me, advocating for something that has empirical evidence to support it.
I am all for it. And if creating empirical evidence benefits my arguments I can find a ways to make that happen. I just know South Bend, Gary, even Chicago provides free meals. I think the context of the argument was your free lunches versus my thought that the government doesn’t do a lot to support the nuclear family and probably does a lot to reinforce the decay of families.

I am from Elkhart Indiana. A good example of how empirical evidence can be created to support an argument is how they combined Elkhart Memorial high school and Elkhart Central high school, and it has been a complete disaster…. But empirical evidence.

I’m sure free lunches will help. I am not necessarily arguing that it won’t. I immediately thought of you when I saw this post. 🍻

That's because the adults made a smart VP pick and now the children are bored and don't wanna talk about it.
Walz is a "smart" VP pick in the same way that Tim Kaine was a smart pick. I think they will seriously regret not going with Kelly or Shapiro

Would be true if the disinterest started around lunch time today but my disinterest came when I found myself disappointed Trump was still the nominee after he got his ear pierced. Probably not a popular take amongst the conservative users on the board.

Empirical in the sense that actual economists carried out the studies, not empirical in the sense that you/I observed evidence that supports our view.

Yeah I think that was OG argument in a sense that I wanted something tangible to be done ie. free lunches and I believe you were advocating for more of an attitude/aspirational change from the Feds. Probably apples and oranges in terms of our arguments.

Yeah? I used fraud as a synonym. Deceiving people — making them think real things are “phony” and “phony” things are real to gain advantage. Like, “the election was rigged,” “I hired all the best people” and “I didn’t have sex with a porn star but paid her $180,000 not to tell anyone about it.” Maybe you should invest in a thesaurus.
Trying the Toronto Vortex I see. You didn't like the answer, change the game. lol

Some vets in Walz's unit aren't too happy with him.

Yeah, saw something about that. Abandoned his unit when he was selected for Iraq, decided to go into politics instead. Never saw combat duty, and mostly served state-side other than 6 months in Europe post 9/11. Someone touted him as the highest ranking active soldier to become part of Congress, but they left off that he was demoted back to Master Sergeant after the way he exited the military.

He should have just told them he had bone spurs.

Actually you are the one who didn’t like the answer because you either don’t understand that fraud and phony are synonymous or are being petty and purposely obtuse.

Walz claimed he retired as a Command Sergeant Major when he actually retired as a Master Sergeant. Though it is noteworthy he retired two years earlier than he had reenlisted for right after he found out his unit was deploying to Iraq, abandoning his unit as their SEL right before they saw combat so he could go run for office, I think there are better more relevant attack lines against him

Coded as a Progressive because he is legitimately a progressive. Free college for illegal immigrants, cheering on the riots in Minneapolis, creating a snitch line service during COVID lockdowns, rationing life saving COVID medicine based on race, and gender transitioning minors are not moderate positions

Meh. JD Vance said VPs don't matter anyways.

Weird how nobody is attacking him on those things and you have no defense for his absolutely horrid handling of the riots and Covid in 2020 and running the state budget into the ground
You did lmao post 439.

You also made no serious posts about what exactly you’re upset with the budget. What did he overspend on and what specifically do you have an issue with? What state do you want him to model?

What will it be? Do you want to sit at the bingo table or at the adult table?

“Abandoned his unit” is the new “retired after 24 years” apparently.

I agree with Virginia that Shapiro would’ve been a better pick for them and that the only reason he wasn’t selected was the pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic Party (alternatively the fact that he would upstage Kamala was also likely a contributing factor).

But the straw grasping about how Tim Walz is some Comunist boogie man is kind of eye rolly. Reeks of desperation.

I think it had more to do with the suicide-murder and the sexual harassment cover-up when he was AG.

Taking a state with a surplus and driving it into debt requiring you to raise taxes and tax retirees on their social security benefits is not good governance lmao.
