I've lingered around this site for years because of the political threads. The discourse has devolved into utter shit posting. I would expect better on a ND board, but it's essentially become X-lite. Moving on.

Why is this funny?

It was funny. Says "if Trump can get off his couch", yet Trump is constantly on the go. The rhetoric in politics can be quite amusing.

Because JD Vance fucks his couch.

Vance fucking his couch is the new pee pee tapes hoax, or Trump calling soldiers suckers and losers.

One guy posted it as truth on Twitter. People are gullible, and/or they thought it was funny so others ran with it. It's sadly what has become commonplace during election cycles. The right isn't immune to it either, this bogus rumor started in retaliation to Walz bringing up the couch thing. This garbage is juvenille:

You're not wrong, but that's pretty much politics in a nutshell these days. I've said for years nothing good comes from this board, but for whatever reason many of us hang out here all the same. Some things you can't explain, like how Geraldine Parker ever got that OC position.

I disagree that nothing good comes from this board. Some members who used to be regular contributors prided themselves on solid, thought-provoking, source-backed posts. If there was disagreement among other similar style posters, a discussion ensued that often times was so in depth, you could write an entire thesis. It was fantastic and I personally benefitted from those style of posts because once provided that level of information, it was easier to develop a more well-rounded opinion. I felt I had a deeper understanding of both sides of an issue. IE posters essentially provided Cliffs Notes for some of the country's most complex issues. For those like me, who don't have time to endlessly research topics, this was greatly beneficial.

However, what seems to be taking place now is just back and forth, tit for tat, shallow, gotcha sound bites. I can literally scroll through my X feed and then come to this thread (or any other political thread on here) and see copy/paste of everything I just read on X. Very little substance. Just more vitriol and tribalism.

He falsely claimed to have been in combat. “We can research the impacts of gun violence. We can make sure those weapons of war, that I carried in war, are only carried in war,”

He filed for his retirement early only after his unit had been notified that they were deploying. While I think it is generally cowardly for the SEL to do that after being notified of their upcoming deployment, I don't have as much of a problem with that if he hadn't claimed to be an OIF vet

You'll have to source where he filed after he found out about the deployment. I trust votevets.

Yes, Votevets isn't partisan or anything

"Since 2006, over 1.5M Veterans, Families, & supporters have been electing Veterans to office and fighting for progressive values."

Leading off their "Facts" section with the word "Bullshit" makes them totally believable.

This was the guy that ended up replacing him in Iraq:

I get the impression that even with the shades of gray, Walz doesn't have issues with bone spurs.

Regardless of party, I don't understand why military experience and or running a business makes anyone more qualified to hold office. Regardless of level of office they seek.

"Thank you for your service. Now tell me why you should be township supervisor."

I'm gonna be honest of all the faux pearl clutching on Walz is obnoxious to the point of making me actually want to vote for him.

I don't think it makes you any more qualified, but saying you served in combat when you didn't is scummy

pretty simple really.

second in line for commander in chief should not have stolen valor in his CV.

Not just scummy, it's stolen valor and it's a crime. According to the Stolen Valor Act of 2005, you're not able to claim ranks you didn't obtain nor service that you did not perform.

"Stolen Valor" is a term applied to the phenomenon of people falsely claiming military awards or medals they did not earn, service they did not perform, Prisoner of War experiences that never happened, and other tales of military actions that exist only in their minds.

Idk. My dad is about the least superfan veteran I've met. Air Force nuke missile guy. Got out after 8 or 9 years? Not a big "IM A VETERAN" type.

He is pissed. Lying about your service is a no-no apparently. At least with him. Seems like it might be a no-no with some others too.
