So weird, this kid has started and beeN at Cal for 4 years and he has like 600 Followers on twitter. Strange how some schools just don't care about football.

Okay, the transfer of Avery will officially put us at 4 available scholarships for 5th years as it stands today.

Caring about Cal football has been pretty painful lately.

Maybe they just don't care about Twitter?

Just looked him up and he is a former 4 star out of Georgia (#11 safety in the 2011 class). Had offers from a lot of excellent programs, including Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA, etc.).

Same school as Isaac Rochell

That's what I'm thinking, although we'll have to see with Golson after the Spring. We will likely have more room with transfers out as well, we always do.
And Ishaq officially becomes one of the bigger busts in recent ND history. Shame. I was looking forward to what he could (possibly) offer this year.

That's the big thing that none of us can fully speculate about. Only the staff know those little nuances that could possibly lead to defection. Who knows what conversations they have had with specific players and their families.

Wooly's next post puts him at the magical 10K.

Yeah he quite simply is the bust of recent memory. Must have just plateaued out in HS. Just goes to show recruiting rating ratings oftentimes do not mean a thing.

Love getting 5th year transfers, getting an experienced player in their prime on a 1 year loan. Riggs was arguably the biggest pickup of the year last year.

It isn't physical ability thats holding him back. Its his tenacity/drive/want to or almost any of those mental hurdles that some athletes can't get over. He has a problem being "locked in" for long periods of time and at this level you'll look pretty bad at times if you're not.

With that said, absolutely agree with your second part. Rankings will not show you what a kids mental makeup is.

So hearing the bust talk, does this mean Ishaq is definitely done? I am/was still hoping he would come back and have a big year.

Nothing is official yet, at least that I've seen. However, he's notably (by BK) on a longer and more difficult road back than KVR. When you combine that with Ishaq's sometimes lack of motivation, I don't feel very good about it. Here's to hoping he gets his stuff together. He's an NFL DE, if he could just flip the damn switch.

Well this is great news. Position of need! And if it works out as well as the Riggs deal did then that will be awesome! How long will it take for this to play out and we will know for sure?

I thing he has to pass his physical, but I would guess we would hear something sometime next week,

Additionally, it's simple numbers. All indications are that there are 4 slots for 5th years. Given the pool of players, he seems to come in at #5 or #6 on that list (IMO). It's not that he's not deserving, but he just fell behind the 8-ball #s wise.
