I'm saying on the field. Not QB unless Kizer goes down. He would be great in another position if he would let himself do it. The dude knows football and writing about his faults will just ruin him.

Fair enough.

At least we have a very capable backup

Seems like MZ could be a situational wide receiver. Jet sweeps, slip screens, etc. And if we give him the pass that Torii Hunter couldn't quite land to Kizer, Kizer probably scores on that play.

Oh, hell, make him a safety.

I think MZ is a QB through and through. He's just the second best one we got.

Kizer scores on that play if he doesn't pull up for a second.

So, Big 12 has reviewed the play and said it was not targeting.

This is ridiculous. The defender lead with his head and shoulder, did not try and wrap up, and indeed made head to head contact as well as shoulder to neck/head area...EXACTLY what the fuck more does the Big 12 need...oh I know, for the roles to be reversed. ZERO respect for either officiating crew.

Rewatching the game. On Texas' first drive. If you don't think it's going to be a long season, watch James Onowala and Jerry Tillery play defense. Oh my.

I'd like to hear the explanation then I'd like to hear if the head of officiating or whatever over site group agrees. I don't think I've seen a more textbook definition of targeting so maybe I'm missing something.

BS. Covering their asses. It was helmet to helmet. There is no way that is not targeting. This is BS. The kid from Texas should be suspended for the first half of their next game. Because those are the rules.

Can someone tell me why in 2013 Tuitt got ejected from the Pitt game for targeting? Comparing that to the helmet to helmet hit on Tori Hunter Jr, Tuitt should not have been injected and it should not have been a penalty.

BTW, hats off to Charlie Strong. Dude got whooped last year, has everyone on his ass, and he put all of his chips in by moving this to Sunday night with no other game on tap. And he showed a royal flush.

You got it right, never seen Strong happier and more confident since coming to UT. Now I gotta put up with endless rehash on the Longhorn Network. That game could propel UT back to prominence quicker than anything. We're gonna look back on this one regretting it slipping away from us.

No way they move Malik to another position.

With the way we are going to have to lean on Kizer this year, I hope he can make it through a full season. Malik better stay sharp, he knows how quick the depth chart can change.

Changes the trajectory of the game. We can all speculate but it does nothing..

1A. No giving excuses and overtime TD's count.

1B.The D was as bad as advertised. I'd argue most of their drives the sputtered were because of their own mistakes. Twice we were bailed out by bad snaps and then a couple times we were bailed out because Burt dropped a TD pass, or let one go right through his hands for the INT. Lets not sugar coat it.

My point about the 50 is that with overtime those numbers are usually getting skewed because of the extra time. If a game goes into 6OTs, you could potentially be looking at anywhere from even a low number of let's say 12 (if both teams missed many opportunities) to 48 points extra on the board. My point was still that 37 in regulation was too much.

The INT was a result of pressure up the middle and a subsequent dip in the elbow due to pressure which results in a ball sailing. The tip had little to do with the INT. I'd argue that was thanks to the defense. Sure we were bailed out by bad snaps, just like they got bailed out by the Mustipher penalty while we were driving, the targeting call, ESB dropping a tough, but catchable ball, etc. That's all part of the game.

At the same time, we were stuffing their run game during those stretches, and making the tackles one on one for short gains. Wasn't all their own mistakes.

We gave up 50 points and over 500 yards(over 6 yards per play). We allowed to them convert over 50% of 3rd downs and 2-2 on 4th downs. The only turnover we forced, on a freshman QB, was a ball their own guy let go right through his hands. And we had zero sacks.

You can slice this any way you want. Use as many "if and buts".... The D was awful.

See bolded. Yes we gave up too much. Yes it was a freshman QB that made the mistake. But don't act like it was a perfect pass his WR missed. It was a timing route thrown too high, and the WR couldn't adjust in time. That's thanks to pressure by Rochell.

It was hard to get pressure against this kind of offense. The ball was out very quickly, before pressure could be applied. No sacks is not good, but it's extremely difficult to get a sack when the offense is designed to get the ball outside as fast as possible.

No excuses. No ifs and buts.... Facts.

Just rewatched the INT a few times...he was releasing that ball well before Rochelle was in his wheelhouse. If anything, he threw it too quickly and the WR wasn't ready for it. It wasn't even too high. Very catchable ball.

Rewatch it.

Rochelle had nothing to do with it.

Avery Sabastian might be the worst D player in ND history.

He's gonna hate film study.

But some memebers on here were touting his run defense...LOL

I wasn't touting it, but I was one of those that spoke up about it. I figured they were playing Sebastian and Tranquil at the same time in order to better stop the run (lol).

Sebastian's calling card was his run-stopping and tackling ability, and has been since his days at Cal. That is well documented, and all we've really had to go on since he's been hurt and hasn't seen the field (until now).

Give us some slack on what we thought was good intel, eh?

Just jerking your chains...I've made some bad calls in my day as well.

Just boggles my mind how a 6th year player is so far out of position and took such bad angles.

Dude just can't play at this level
