What you guys don't see is that this coaching staff does what it takes to WIN.

Whatever it takes. Winning is the most important thing.

As long as we play by the spirit of Our Lady, keep the kids on the bench wanting more, and BEAT OUR OPPONENTS..... everything is good.

GO IRISH.

Did my first post appear??

Ok so Im rewatching the game and idk if it was the first play int or what but Golson was just lost everytime the camera was on his face... But at the same time I agree with you cogs. Kelly needs to figure out what Golson is capable of doing... He ran 1 play action and 1 wr screen i think, IMO he needed to get him settled and he just never did. And I agree with you on Rees, he might be able to protect a lead but he will never lead us past quality teams... and his rush td was all play calling even Mayock said it as it happened.

Yep. Kelly never rolled Golson out, never gave him any play action, or even set him out on a draw.

I bet once Golson calms his nerves he goes 150 yards 1td pass and 2ints. I do not hate Rees at all, I actually root for the kid, but we are not progressing with him back there. Again, Golson deserved more time.

How much more time did he deserve? 2 more INTs worth? Maybe we should have waited until he threw a fumble in there, as well?

I will give Mattison a ton of credit for Confusing Golson. With 2 weeks off I'm fairly confident Everett wil be ready for a poor Miami Defense.

...poor d or not...we better score. They put up some points today.

They played against Robinson all night....... explain this:

Michigan Rushing Yards by Quarter

1: 21 yards
2: 40 yards
3: 88 yards
4: 12 yards

The rushing numbers, AND the TOP back up what I saw with my eyes. You guys saw it, too, you just don't want to admit to it.

So they gave up 161 rushing yards to a top-20 team that can't throw and couldn't score....still struggling to see what you're complaining about.

If the 3rd qtr said "1.5 yds, 2 TDs" I'd be more concerned.

Really? It was a home game. If it was at Michigan I might agree with you but Golson has got to hit the passes he missed on and has to avoid turning the ball over on stupid plays. I want Golson to be our QB because he opens up so much of our playbook but he has to play better. If we have to baby him what good is he doing out there?

I don't think that's fair either.

I wanted EG to come back in the 2nd half as we would have had a lot more options open.

However, when we put Tommy in, we were able to get plays in quicker and with more authority than without. It's give and take.

Just Win.

I'm not complaining about anything. I pointed out that maybe the front 7 isn't as dominant as we had hoped, because Michigan did push them around tonight(even if only for a quarter). For Christ's sake, is it against some kind of f'in law to see weaknesses, even in win?

You and others can be speechless all you want. It doesn't change the fact that Michigan's OLine DOMINATED the LOS, in the 3rd Quarter, to the tune of 11:37 of Time of Possession for Michigan, in that Quarter. It's not like I said that they sucked, just that Michigan DID push them around a bit tonight. So maybe they aren't the Steel Curtain?

Michigan ran the ball 41 times. So, they kept with their strategy and eventually it started to pay off, though we never broke like in years past due to the fact that we've got more depth in our front 7.

Instead of putting it on the D though, I think the focus-and the problem- is with the offense. We simply must get more consistency, We were 3-9 on 3rd downs and lost the TOP by 7 minutes. It's simply not good enough. Kelly must find a way get the offense going to score more points and get the D off the field.

It was his 1st game against Meatchicken so yeah I think he should have set him up a little better AFTER he seen him struggle...

Of course. I never said that the D played bad. I said that maybe they weren't as good as many were hoping. I heard a lot of talk about this D maybe being an SEC worthy Defense. Well, maybe they are just short of that. And, so what? That's still pretty good. My focus was only on the contention that I was crazy for saying that Michigan's offensive line EVER pushed us around.

If there's one thing I believe BK can do, it's manufacture offense.

Nobody believed that we'd have a dominate defense when he took over. It's never looked like we needed to manufacture points yet... just wait till we do.

BK will find the speedsters. Guarantee.

I'm happy as hell with the win. But a win doesn't mean that there's nothing to improve on. And if people didn't see Michigan pushing our DLine 5 yards off of the line of scrimmage, fairly regularly, in the 3rd Quarter, then they can believe that nothing is wrong. Then they will stroke out when we lose to Miami because they dominate the LOS. Brian Kelly has is "Next man in" motto; I think the IE Poster motto ought to be "Eyes Wide Open"

Apologies for reading into your words too much. Being a "voice of reason" is fine. Doing it at 2:30 in the morning immediately after the game about a 4-0 team that just beat two huge rivals back-to-back to move into the top ten is being a dick.

New game plan by Michigan in the 2nd half; get back to Denard's strength with lots of Read Option. Defending Robinson on the Read Option is easily among the most difficult tasks in CFB, and it's one that our DL will not have to do again this year.

Our DL was not getting blown off the ball by UM's OL.

No, it's not. My point was that the same people who refuse to recognize that Michigan's OLine did push our DLine around a little, will be the same ones who will be SHOCKED, and apoplectic, if some other team not named Oklahoma or USC does it to us. They will stroke out because they are gorging themselves on the Kool Aid, instead of acknowledging that there may be a way to "get" this team.

Ok. We all acknowledge that we are not the 85 Chicago Bears, can we celebrate the win now?

Go back and watch the game again. Michigan was caving in the side of the line that they were running to, by about 5 yards.

If I recall correctly the goal for the D was to hold Drob in check accept that he would break some big plays... they cause what 4ints and a fumble while allowing no big run plays. I would say they did f*cking awesome!

4-0 feels good man

Thank goodness for a well sorted defense. Excellent stops in the red zone.

Forcing 4 turnovers (not counting that garbage hail mary)

Offense needs an identity. Are the Irish a pass first, run first or game management type offense. That needs to get straightened out pronto whilst in the biweek.

I think our front 7 is as good as any SEC team's, though not our entire defense due to our youth in the secondary. However, Alabama's offense steamrolled Michigan's defense, where we chipped away at them. Some of that is due to the fact that Alabama's offense is built just like their defense: They control the line of scrimmage which allows them to run the ball consistently, and then throw play action passes for big gains. It's still hard to define what our identity is as and offense, and we continue to be inconsistent in all phases of offensive production. We simply are not a complete team yet, but are a big improvement over the last Weis years due to the high caliber of our front 7.

I, for one, can't wait for Stanford.. who beat USC. We will dominate their horse-**** pro-style crap.

Oklahoma? How'd they do against K-state? Landry isn't nearly as good as advertised, and our secondary is much better than people think.

USC? They lost to Stanford.

Do I think we beat all of them? No. But I think we fight crazy hard against each of them.

2 and 1. Count it right now.
