Insanity- Doing the same thing over and over again expectign a different result ex being an ND football fan. Welcome to the crazy world of being an irish fan where they should change the site to insaneasylumenvy.com To think if i wouldnt of called my old Offensive line coach to tell him about me getting married, id have never even watched the game. He makes me miserable even without making me do pushups and gassers...i love him tho. I just dunno if ill ever be optimistic (i know me optimistic shut the hell up rudy you never are) but I dont think i can be ever again about this program, this is ty's second year all over again. But Im gonna be in a great mood for quite a while at least until the first person at work says something about this game. But oh well maybe we should do an IE bachelor party at an ND game next year lol

What's weird is I feel like ND was easier to watch in '07 and '08 when they were just plain bad. With the defense being fast and able to contain and the o-line holding blocks and just the overall physicality of the whole team now its really really hard to watch this team lose like this.

I hate to say it, but Notre Dame is starting to look like the Chicago Cubs of college football. No matter how certain a win looks, the Irish can find a way to lose.

I mean, what kills me the most is that 7 turnovers, instead of 9 and we win both games. 2-0.
We are ahead with 30secs left on the clock!

I am sad I am part of this board. You guys make me sick as an ND fan. PERIOD!

Italics were left out for a reason.

Last year was pretty bad. Maybe this year we beat the POS teams and lose to the good ones? Ever crossed your minds? It is week ****ing 2!

Once again ... sick to be part of what SOME of you guys display as "fans" ..

SOME is key here folks. I will post my game observations in 48 hours. Good luck to you all.

Eifert is a good receiver, very bad protector. thats all.

I am sure he is a great kid but he sucks at blocking that as true as our 10 turnovers

You know, the other player that has been overlooked in our discussion and rage is Ben Turk. His punting has been inconsistent and poor. I can't believe they muffed two long snaps, but between last week and this week, the special teams have made several huge and costly mistakes.

25 yard punt may as well have been another turnover...

you are correct in that he's had his shot...I mean really, can the freshman do worse? I have a philosophy...guys who fold mentally...you must force them to overcome it by making them find out just how allergic to splinters they are...if they never will themselves off the bench...they were never going to fix the head issues...thats a promise! Again, time to move on to the future...in this case its not like we are burning a redshirt...between our kickoff guy and our field goal guy...we can't do better than what we are getting now...which is SHANKSVILLE?

I always thought that Brian Kelly coached teams were much quicker at executing their offense...

Wait until we lose Floyd next year. Optimism level just dropped like a boner in a nursing home.

I will give you guys something to chew on ... we lost it on the last drive of the game in the last minute on a few (3) plays ... forget everything else. That is the only thing that mattered and we blew it. Discuss that and not what could have been.

Did Tuitt, Lynch, and Ishaq Williams played tonight. Didn't hear their names mentioned. Just wondering.

Lost it on the last drive of the game, and the one before that, and 2 before that. The 2nd half was a complete nightmare.

Where did ND go wrong? Losing passion of the game I think imo, Ara Parseghian was the last coach we had that was passionate about the game. ND can be a national treasure again, but it has to find the formula it once had to be a powerhouse...

I often ask, whatever happened to the attitude of the team that lead to 5 wins over Alabama? This is what we need, but they have to dig down to find it.

I just can't believe this, I wish I could cry but I'm a man. I am a mess and have to go to bed. Just like an out of body thing or something.

Guys! This is OUR team, the players who have the guts to take that field every week and play their hearts out. None of us in the blogisphere do that. They do.
Mistakes? These first 2 games of the '11 season have had more than I've ever seen in the 50 years I've followed the program. True. That said, they still have the talent to go 10 and 2 this year and I'm going to continue to root for them week in and week out as they as they take the field to try.
Remember Shaggy the Jamaican singer? Remember that song he sang; `You Can Cry But You Can Never Give Up'.?
Come on guys, we got State next week, another arch enemy, pull it together and let's help them get started on that 10 and 2 season!

Has the defense ever come up big in recent memory when they need a stop? Ever? And I'm talking about the defense actually making a play not the other team having a penalty or throwing an easy INT or dropping a wide open ball. Our offense has a lot of issues but at least I've seen it come up big occasionally in big spots late in the game. I've never seen the defense make a ferocious sack, a big time hit, or a great INT or deflection on the other team's final drive.

I still say the problem is the defense. Against South Florida, the offense kept having turnovers but in the biggest drive of the game they allowed South Florida to march with relative ease 80 yards down the field to make it 23-7.

They were assisted with 45 penalty yards on that drive.
1 face mask
1 late hit
1 pass interference

Just 1 of those penalties don't happen.. we win the game.

Our defense was relatively solid up until the last two michigan tds. It seems that the defense sucks everytime it is a must stop situation.

Well see who we really are next weekend

Blah blah blah. What if, what if, what if.

This team has ****ed up virtually every opportunity this year.

Gary Gray is a liability. Why did we not play prevent at the end? In the end the defensive coordinator screwed up.

We already know who we are.

We lost a disastrous home opener to a clearly inferior team, then we blew a 17 point lead to a terrible Michigan team.

We don't have the right QB that's why the offense is not consistent. Need someone who can run when you're running the spread. Rees should be the back up.

While Rees seems to be a better option than Crist, he is nothing to write home about IMHO. I believe our best chances for dynamic QB play in the spread are wearing red hads on the sidelines. I have been rooting for Hendrix since spring practice but Kelly is obviously not interested in my opinion. If we want to win consistently moving forward, I believe we have to get the young, mobile QBs some playing experience this year.
