I really don't think that's going to happen, it's very easy to get approved. For example:

In North Dakota, I think $300/hr is pretty SOP +/- $50. A fair number take on part time gigs like city prosecutor, city judge, or public defender gigs for extra (and easy) income. In rural areas they are often the county prosecutor on top of their (usually transaction) practice.

This happened last year followed by another incident a couple of weeks later. While he should retire and this is another argument for term limits, it's nothing that has happened recently.
They'll never pass term limits. I think they could pass the age limit though. Not to be an ageist, and there are certainly some over 80 that can do the job, it's really unnecessary. Spend your remaining years with family and enjoy them. Currently 5-8% of the House and Senate are over 80. I don't believe any of them are new to the job, they've been there long enough. Cap the age at 75 for re-election.
