Remember the FBI informant who claimed President Biden took millions in bribes from Burisma?

He admitted today in federal court that he made the whole thing up. And that he started spinning new lies after meeting with Russian intelligence.

Assuming this guy made it up, "10% to the big guy" is recorded on tape and calls for explanation.

There is some nuance and misrepresentations here, but the spirit of this rings true to why Democrats hemorrhaged supporters among normal people in recent years.

I saw this myself earlier today. It is a powerful message. While I didn't go through bone cancer, I saw my insurance go from very affordable /w a low deductible to something ridiculously similar after the ACA went into place. My sister and her husband couldn't afford insurance themselves for awhile when they were first starting out, so they too got hit with the fines that the ACA brought (Kind of salt on the wound for a young, lower income family). While there were certainly some good things in the ACA like support for pre-existing conditions, there were a number of things that hurt healthy families financially.

At the end of the day it's a good example of why no single party will ever reign long in this country. The two party system is setup to divide, but it also prevents either side from ruling very long. Eventually one side will pass legislation that ends up hurting too many independents or their own constituents. If that doesn't happen, then you can bet bad luck or hard times will spring up at some point because they always do. When either of those things happen the pendulum swings back to the other side and power shifts. Lately it's been every 4-8 years like clockwork.

Being a cancer survivor, covering pre-existing conditions is nice, but requiring pre-existing conditions to be covered is one reason premiums went through the roof. I would prefer to have my old insurance back. My premium was less than half of what it is today, my deductible was lower and my coverage was better.

Gov: You must have health insurance.
Individual: I can't afford it.
Gov: We're going to fine you.

While the concept for Obamacare was a good idea, the plan was not very well thought out.

It's almost like Democrats care more about illegals than they do American citizens.

It's almost like they care more about criminals than they do about everyday working Americans.

I'm sure that there is a really good Republican plan to increase healthcare coverage and make it cheaper for citizens. It's part of their plan to take care of homeless vets, because they wouldn't use them as a pawn.

It's 39 pardons and clemency to 1500 people. Mostly non violent offenders who committed white collar crimes like stealing money from regular ordinary people, and we all know how they're so valued.

But I'm sure in certain echo chambers from sea to shining sea it's 8k and nothing I post is going to change anyone's mind.

I don't think it's a good strategy to have voters earnestly believe you care more about non-Americans than Americans. Agree with you.

It's great because the Democrats ran against that AND still couldn't communicate a message of "Let's have proper healthcare reform to ensure coverage for more American's and radically reduce costs".

How in the WORLD do you have the Republican's saying "See they care more about immigrants than you!" and you don't counter with "Ok, let's have proper coverage for American's" and put forth actual efforts to get this done. I agree that healthcare should be provided to those less fortunate but HOLY HELL why not give Joe Smith in rural Ohio free healthcare first. You want to get votes? Offer actual real change to those in the midwest who are open to government programs that can actually benefit them. They see a conservative populist doing well, and think "nahhhhh" to any sort of progressive populist because it would undermine their entire electoral history of just running middle of the road neolibs. Let's just continue to bomb countries on the other side of the world and do performative shit so millionaires in San Fran can feel good.

My hometown (15k) has like one taxi and no apps so I kinda get it when people get popped for a DUI. But I think there is a big difference between "eh I'm probably ok" and being pants pissing drunk.

They don’t care. Most of them line their pockets via insurance companies the same as republicans.

So my ACA health insurance went up about 30% this year. Really need to get bullshit discretionary/designer health care off these plans. IDAF about your IVF - if you pay out of pocket for it and put up a massive bond for the inevitable maladies of your science projects birthed by ladies in their mid 40s. Same with international adoptions, viagra and gender reassignments. Love that I get exploding costs for all the 400 pound frequent fliers that can't wait for another prescription to solve their problems caused by their last prescription that was supposed to solve their refusal to any lifestyle changes. Totally makes sense that drug abusing 600 pound honey boo-boos pay the same as me**. Whatever, I'll do what I want!

One major focus of planning for those retiring prior to age 65 is ACA subsidy. The subsidy phase out from $60k to $80k of AGI for a couple was the difference of over $200/month for one I worked with recently - effectively a hidden 12% marginal tax on top of normal income taxes.

** HAHA - jokes on me. Honey Boo Boo pays nothing b/c she doesn't make enough to lose ACA subsidy while I pay full freight for health insurance that predictably explodes in cost.
