Walmart closes stores in lots of locations for a variety of reasons. That has absolutely nothing to do with the closures in Portland. The ones in Portland are being closed because of rampant shoplifting and the local political climate that does nothing to stop it.
Wal-Mart does close locations for a variety of reasons, in fact in their statement they said “The decision to close these stores was made after a careful review of their overall performance. We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions. After we decide to move forward, our focus is on our associates and their transition, which is the case here,”
Having another dozen stores in the area was probably a factor. Or it could only be <insert liberal grievance madlibs here>. Florida is probably closing because of too much darn freedom being a factor!
