The fair share is what the Congress says it is. Also, everyone is acting like the poor don't pay taxes. They pay all kinds of regressive taxes such as sales tax, bridge tolls, gas tax, user fees...so if someone could produce a figure that shows who pays what in total taxes/fees as a proportion of total income then I think we would all have a clearer understanding of how "fair" our tax system on the Federal, State and local levels are.
Anyhow, say what you want about taxes but letting individuals accumulate massive ammounts of wealth and pass that along to their offspring is the beginning of the end of any sort of free and merit based society. It concentrates politcal and economic power and creates a completely insular ruling class that is out of touch with 99.9% of humanity. If you want to see what type of society is produced by such policies and that type of thinking look at present day Mexico.
Yep you've lost it.
1) To be clear, the House passes a bill, sends it to the Senate, and then to the President if both pass it.
2) We are talking about federal income taxes and who pays for what. The fact remains that the "super rich" pay for damn near everything on a federal level.
3) If you think the poor should be exempt from more taxes like tolls, sales tax, and gas tax you should take that up with your local and state governments.
4) You nor any politican has any moral or legal authority to tell people what money to give to their children/ families. Sorry.
5) If you're concerned about Congress being out of touch with the 99%, march right on down to DC and encourage them (especially all the Democrats who voted for this) to enroll in obamacare, since they are all exempt.
