My dad has been Superintendent at four different school systems in four different counties/school districts/cities, and all of them were as I described. As were the school districts where I went to school (two different than the ones my dad was at, in two different cities/counties) and now the three different school districts where my son has been going to school. That's a grand total of nine different school districts spanning over all different counties throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. That doesn't even count all of the school administrators from other states and districts that I've met through my dad who have the same experience I've recounted.

Also, don't forget that "school committees" are actually the school administrators and the school board, a group of parents of children in the district, who have an invested interest in getting the best school for their kid through technology, sports, supplies, etc.

Either my family has just happened to hit the lucky jackpot of non-school corruption, or your example is actually the exception to the rule.

It doesn't sound like "luck," it sounds like your dad is the one with integrity. By definition, his organizations would be relatively corruption-free.

Help your state fix your DMV.

The IRS believe it or not, gets more right than wrong, but nobody talks about the good stuff. However I favor a flat tax.....Sorry IRS.

The post office is an outdated business that was once a marvel. It can be good again if we get congress out of the equation and let it run like a business, not a govt. agency.

You know the Tea Party supports a flat tax, right?

Because this time it's different right?

When has a government agency ever run like it wasn't one? You are delusional. Now how about that bridge, how much would you like to offer for it?

They're still defending this train wreck...against all reality, history, and facts to the contrary! How long can one delude oneself before considered clinically ill? Looks like we found the crazy people after all!!!

Unbelievable. Seriously I'm not sure whether to laugh at you or just feel really sorry for you.

You may be the delusional one. You have no comprehension of the scale these departments run on and only focus on the mishaps.

And you have no comprehension on the corruption of these departments and only focus on the "sob stories" on the very small % of times it works FOR the people.

And yet some how, some way Jamie Dimon and Chase shareholders should pay $13B in fines for transgressions of a bank they didn't operate and took over in 2008 to stave off catastrophe?

Whether we like it or not, failure draws more attention than success. That happens everywhere. It just so happens that this failure cannot be hidden by "classified" documents or being stonewalled. No, this time, government is front and center and every American can see it. Does this mean the entire government is run by 5th graders? Not a chance. But, the ineptitude of the department to roll out this website after years of planning, knowing full damn well what push back would come, means one of two things. One, the administration knew the issues and went ahead anyway because it was politically the right move or they had no idea of the issues. Either way, bad leadership.

An MSNBC panel over the weekend was LIVID at Obama for the poor execution of the website rollout. Oprah even said no to The Chosen One for appearing at the White House to sell obamacare. Are they members of this drama club too?

Oprah Winfrey gave 'unequivocal no' to selling Obamacare: report - Washington Times

Do you care MSNBC and Oprah think? I could care less.

You don't seem to understand what it is to have an opinion of your own. I think you like having your opinions given to you.

How about answering the original question instead of avoiding it?

Maybe that will help us determine who's delusional.

Let me guess that you favor scrubbing the whole thing?

overly simplistic

...No secret I think the ACA was done not as good solid legislation...but thrown together to hit a political window of opportunity. As such it had a lot of TBDs that represent points of cost that were ignored as the legislation was labeled AFFORDABLE care act..No Secret I think many of the benefits the act sought to provide could be done via smaller "acts". It was not done to simply provide health care to those in need...it is a political win with other than healthcare in mind....No secret I think the timing is horrible based on economy, and debt/deficit to GDP.

AT its most basic level...I see things like this...

There are dreamers...and there are doers...good dreamers know they need doers...and MOST importantly, know what they look like...Dreamers who can employ doers are called entrepreneurs....and they are "disruptors" who usher beneficial change...

...If passing a law, arm waving, and vilifying dissenters is what you think it takes to usher disruption into beneficial change...we differ. If you think it is a good idea to disrupt for the purpose of centralizing (single payer) the market place...we differ.

Specifically related to the HHS system...In order for it to work...some grown-ups need to take over the implementation and maintenance concepts as well as a PR firm for right sizing expectations...That costs money, time...money and time that should have ALREADY produced a functioning system. It also takes political appointees getting the hell out of the way, and letting a competent leader do his/her thing! The thing that is frustrating is that none of the folks who cheer ACA on give a flying crap about what any part of it actually COSTS...and ridicule those who point to this particular system as possibly indicative of what is in store.

In short the right solution would be, delay, assess, fix, re-deploy in a deliberate fashion...:).

Such a small mind. I just pointed out recent funny events in relation to obamacare. No opinions there. I throw out basic facts, not other people's opinions. And since you cannot counter mine with the same that would support your position, you throw out little insults.

Go back to work, Bob, since that's your reasoning for not being able to have "lengthy" discussions on this thread. :krazy:

You'd be wrong.

So you think there is more corruption and things that go wrong with the government, than go right? If you really think that, you're beyond help.

How about asking a question that makes sense? Did someone suggest that an agency had run like a business? I suggested that they might allow the post office to run as a business, not that it had. Comprehension is an awesome thing, isn't it?

Right now folks are looking at many different ways to help save the postal service.....one of which is the possibility of allowing it to become a publicly traded company..I'm not saying it's gonna happen, just that it may work.

And yet you still can't answer a simple question...

I've given up hope for you; hopefully others on the site will be able to better comprehend the oxymoron that is government efficiency.

How good will service need to be if you're required by law to buy it? ...just like the DMV.

Let's face it, the sad truth is that more people will be hurt than helped by Obamacare.

The ACA is law and you have to abide by it, even though you don't like it, so your panties are in a bunch.

No support needed, no news stations, no tv stars, just the cold hard facts IMO.

Wow, an IPO for the Post Office Private to save it? Do you even hear yourself? You are arguing with yourself? You just made my point.

Take private b/c private runs more efficiently.

You're reminding me of another poster who was arguing with himself before he lost it. I'll say the same thing to you. Please finish your argument with yourself before you post. Honestly, if you have psychological issues or mental condition, my apologies. I don't mean to make you look foolish or take advantage of your cognitive disability.

Dingus?

OK All-star...

Yes I do. And it is a state government agency which is not very well run. I fail to see how that makes it better? Why are you pointing out this distinction? That there are state agencies that are poorly run? OK. Great! Even smaller government agencies are poorly run. Doesn't change my point that Government agencies are not efficient. Why is this so hard for you to comprehend?
