What has Hillary or Obama done that's good for this country?

No hurry...I'll wait.

and btw..I stand with Israel. If some terrorist neighbor is lobbing rockets into your city, methinks I would want to raze the place down. The Jewish people were nice enough to CALL the residences prior and tell them they were bombing them.
That's a first in warfare.

Wasn't it the US that came up with the phrase bomb them back to the stone age? ...even when our actual nation was not being fired upon...

Not a first at all. The Irish Republican Army used to call in warnings all the time to reduce civilian casualties when a bomb had been placed. But wait, they were on the international terrorist list. Does this mean Israel should be added to the international terrorist list?

No surprises here. Texas leads the pack again, Florida not far behind. Can't imagine why LA, Chicago, and NYC are nowhere to be found.

Naples, Austin Head List Of Best Cities For Job Growth - Forbes

places-infographic_20141.png

Looks a bit geographical to me (ie rustbelt), but what do I know, I'm not a conservative hack.

Anywho, GDPs of those cities:

Los Angeles: $756 billion
Chicago: $571 billion
New York: $1,358 billion (...yes, $1.358 trillion)

Those cities are just wastelands I tell ya...

For New York to grow at 4.1% annually, they'd have to add more than a billion dollars of GDP a week. Just some food for thought. Job growth as a percentage is tricky when you're, well, already fucking huge...

That's not to say that there aren't a myriad of lessons to be learned (the hard way or not) for the rustbelt, and a bunch of other factors playing into this, but your insinuation gets the conversation nowhere.

Can you name a single thing he's done that you agree with? Is Obama 100% wrong?

If some terrorist neighbor is lobbing rockets into your city, methinks I would want to raze the place down.

(Pretend for a moment that the US has a weak military)

What if tomorrow the Chinese decided that they were going to support the Native Americans in forming an Animist State in New Jersey, leading to the (somewhat) forced deportation of >700,000 Americans over the Delaware River. Would that be okay? Would there be a reasonable expectation for Americans to accept that? What happens when this Native American state then starts building settlements in parts of New Jersey that they said they would leave for the Americans?

So when Europeans decide that they'll support the Jews in forming a Jewish State in Palestine, and >700,000 Palestinians are forced from their homes...we're supposed to say that the Palestinians don't have any legitimate gripes?

I don't support Hamas, but I don't pretend that Israel is exactly innocent either.

The conversation in the news about the president being absent during the current Russian and Israel crisis is laughable. Please tell me people can't be that stupid. How out of touch with reality does someone have to be to not know that it doesn't matter where he's at?

Speaking of America's moral obligations toward certain refugee groups, here's an article from The Week's Michael Brendan Dougherty titled "Why America is Duty Bound to Help Iraqi Christians:"

Sidenote-- I really like The Week. It came out what, 10-15 years ago? I think they saw the way the world (or at least the U.S.) was trending with technology, media, TV, newspapers, and magazines in that all those markets were becoming heavily saturated and attention by particular consumers was dwindling.

So they decided to condense all the news, so to speak, and give the highlights, usually from a couple different perspectives. It's great.

I also like their blurbs and factoids (some fascinating stuff), as well as their market, arts, science, pop culture gossip, and homes for sale segments.

It's by far my favorite news magazine in this day and age. I and/or my family have been subscribers almost since they debuted.

Can someone explain to me the concept of being able to sue the POTUS?

For some reason it embarasses me as an American. Should I feel embarassed?

I read through this thread, and the partisan responses make me think of this bit by Bill Hicks. Not totally sure why but well...

Bill Hicks: By the way, if anyone here is in advertising or marketing... kill yourself.
[audience laughs and claps]
Bill Hicks: Thank you. Just a little thought. I'm just trying to plant seeds. Maybe one day, they'll take root. I don't know. You try, you do what you can. Kill yourself. Seriously though, if you are, do.
[audience laughs]
Bill Hicks: Aaah, no really, there's no rationalisation for what you do and you are Satan's little helpers, okay? Kill yourself, seriously. You're the ruiner of all things good, seriously. No, no, this is not a joke, you're going, "there's gonna to be a joke coming," there's no fucking joke coming. You are Satan's spawn filling the world with bile and garbage. You are fucked and you are fucking us. Kill yourself. It's the only way to save your fucking soul. Kill yourself.
[audience claps and whoops]
Bill Hicks: Planting seeds. I know all the marketing people are going, "he's doing a joke..." there's no joke here whatsoever. Suck a tail-pipe, fucking hang yourself, borrow a gun from a Yank friend. I don't care how you do it. Rid the world of your evil fucking machinations. Machi... whatever, you know what I mean. I know what all the marketing people are thinking right now too, "Oh, you know what Bill's doing, he's going for that anti-marketing dollar. That's a good market, he's very smart."
[audience laughs]
Bill Hicks: Oh man, I am not doing that, you fucking evil scumbags. "Ooh, you know what Bill's doing now, he's going for the righteous indignation dollar. That's a big dollar. A lot of people are feeling that indignation. We've done research. Huge market. He's doing a good thing." Goddammit, I'm not doing that, you scumbags. Quit putting a goddamm dollar sign on every fucking thing on this planet! "Ooh, the anger dollar. Huge. Huge in times of recession. Giant market. Bill's very bright to do that." God, I'm just caught in a fucking web. "Ooh, the trapped dollar, big dollar, huge dollar. Good market. Look at our research. We see that many people feel trapped. If we play to that and then separate them into the trapped dollar..." God, how do you live like that? I bet you sleep like fucking babies at night, don't you? "What did ya do tonight honey?" "Oh, we made ah, we made ah, arsenic ah, childhood food now, goodnight."
[lays down and snores]
Bill Hicks: "Yeah, we just said you know is your baby really too loud? You know?"
[snores]
Bill Hicks: "Yeah, it'll... you know the mums will love it."
[snores]
Bill Hicks: [stands up] Sleep like fucking children, don't you? This is your world isn't it?

Love this. Totally agree. I support Israel, but not because I think that they have a superior claim to the disputed land or because I approve of the way they've handled the conflict. It's mostly because they are an ally in a region where we have few or none and, in fact, where most countries' worldview and form of government are absolutely inimical to ours. I know that's very realpolitik, and maybe it's just me, but I don't see why everyone has to try to justify everything Israel does by arguing that the Palestinians are basically whiny bitches who just need to get over the fact that they are living in Israel's world now. It's more complicated than that, and that's ok. It doesn't mean you can't still support Israel.

Can someone explain to me the concept of being able to sue the POTUS?

For some reason it embarasses me as an American. Should I feel embarassed?

Yes and no.

No, you should not be embarrassed that it is possible to sue the POTUS. He has a responsibility to faithfully execute the laws, he is not above the law, and if he fails to fulfill that constitutional responsibility, we should be able to sue him and compel him to do his job.

Yes, you should be embarrassed by all this nonsense:
Why experts see little hope for GOP plan to sue Obama over law's delay - LA Times
House GOP Plows Forward With Plans To Sue Obama : NPR
to the extent it is emblematic of how dysfunctional our legislature is. I am certainly embarrassed by it. We are barely a step above countries where fistfights break out on the floor of the legislative chamber.

I read through this thread, and the partisan responses make me think of this bit by Bill Hicks. Not totally sure why but well...

Lol. That's great stuff. Yeah, no one gets through to anyone in partisan bickering.

Yeah per usual you oversimplify. How's Kansas doing with all the tax cuts they just passed? They're broke. California as an economy could walk away from the US tomorrow and be just fine. Actually, it would probably be better off without the rest of the dead weight.

To whit. Texas and Florida are living on borrowed time. The population in Texas has already exceeded the capacity of the State's natural resources (primarily water) to support much more growth in the fields that drive it's economy (petroleum and construction). As to Florida. That whole place is going to be underwater and it's aquifers will be useless due to salt water intrusion caused by rising sea levels. In short both those places are f#*ked if they continue on their current paths.

Kansas tax breaks: I don't know. I do know they aren't fostering a welfare state. And broke? You're worried about little rural Kansas? Have you seen the financials of CA, IL, and NY??? I'll bet you a naked lap that one of those three states will be the first in the union to fail before Kansas.

Let me understand this: Texas and FL are on borrowed time but CA is sitting pretty? Dude I know you're a CA guy and that's your home, but take the blinders off. I'll believe what you say when 1) TX residents are fleeing the state because they are out of "resources" and FL is a swimming pool.

As I've said for the past few years, proof is in the pudding and numbers don't lie. Americans are more mobile now than ever. Companies and people are leaving places like NY and CA for better job opportunities and lower costs of living in states like NC, FL, TX, and AZ.

Your jealously is obvious.

Oh and since you say "proof is in the pudding and numbers don't lie". Here's some numbers to suck on while you loathe.

There is one sentence I know your hatred will zone in on. Let's see if you can find it. In the end though you can just read the facts then post your apologies for being wrong again.

BobD,

How embarrassing for you that you don't understand the difference between changes in migration and population.

Polish Leppy is clearly referring to migration trends. You respond by pointing to figures on overall population. Apples and oranges my friend. Apples and oranges.

Here is the data that supports Polish Leppy:

I'm awaiting for you to apologize to Polish Leppy.

I can't find a handy chart that includes 2013, but the data I could find shows positive migration to California of approximately 66,000. Nevertheless, if I understand the data correctly, that figure includes some 160,000 illegal immigrants.

If you can't see past your obvious hate of California and realize how stupid the crap you post is, I can't help you.

We have the best climates, all four seasons when you want them, the most millionaires and billionaires and one of if not the best real estate market in the world,. No matter how much you hope and pray for our destruction, we still set the standard for you to follow and will well into the future. So sit there in has been Pennsylvania listening to Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh while dreaming of wastelands in Texas and Florida if you want. Just spare everyone having to read crap past on to you by the tea party.

What did I say was stupid? Asking if you know the difference between population and migration? lol...Nothing in your post came anywhere close to answering any of the questions I posed to you, because yet again you can't debate the facts.

I don't pray for CA's demise, but you guys can lay in the bed you make out there. CA or NY will be one of the first failed states in the US.

I don't answer questions you pose because they are all just bullshit spins on topics that you have zero grasp of. If I did give you the pleasure of a direct response you'd just go back to Fox news to get your next dumb question or retort.

I mean think about what you just said about California failing. It doesn't take a brain much larger than a pea to know that California by itself has one of the largest economies in the WORLD. Yeah right, it'll fail. You better pray to God it doesn't happen in your lifetime.

Stop believing all the tea party, old fashioned wanna be conservative, if the world could only go backwards crap.....or go join some backwoods militia and live on hate with a stupid hair cut and camouflage pants and be done with it.

They aren't bullshit or spins. All I asked were 2 simple questions. These aren't complicated questions. I'm not asking you to split atoms. 1) California is growing based on what? 2) Do you understand the difference between population and migration? The chart that magogian posted suggests you do not.

You'll also note that it wasn't a chart from FoxNews and the article and research I posted was from Forbes.

$24 billion in debt and another $330 billion in unfunded liabilities.

I never said California didn't have problems. Or this:

CA is sitting pretty.

Which, for the record, has not been my representation of California.

But hey...you're the smartest guy you've ever met.

I don't need to be the smartest guy to criticize how you post. You come here, throw down some article Rush Limbaugh handed you, get your dig in, and leave. All without an iota of context or trying to facilitate having a real conversation on the matter. You're two steps above a troll, the only thing separating you and said troll being that your feelings are legitimate.

1) I've never thrown down anything from Rush (or any others like him), nor do I listen to him. Nice try. Look at the articles I've posted...they're from various sources and sites, but none are from Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc. They're more in line with Investor Business Daily, Forbes, Wall St Journal, etc.

2) I do post articles and such on here to get conversations started, but to say I do so without any context is garbage. I've had some very solid, in depth conversations and disagreements with posters on here about several topics.

The fact that you don't like my viewpoints or articles is irrelevant.
