lol "anti-transgender" he said people with dicks should use the men's room. How controversial.

Or that perverts shouldn't be allowed to use this issue as a disguised in road.... It blows me away how anything against PC is instantly dropped in the bigoted/hateful box...

Wonder if the transaged dude is going to join the Brownies. He should indeed be welcomed with open arms.

It is the Disneyfication of American culture: all happy-talk and no criticism of anyone's stupid decisions; instead, unqualified accession to their demands that everyone else accept these fantasies about being a different "gender" than what they were to that point.

This sort of mass compulsory lying is a central feature of authoritarian regimes: everyone knows it is a lie, but you have to utter it as if it were true anyway, and in so doing you are degraded. This is now the life many of us have to lead to avoid losing our jobs.

Only views accepted in LA and Hollywood are allowed. Differing opinions are simply bigoted.

ESPN is run by cowards, as they prove again. Recall that they fired/forced out Bill Simmons for criticizing Roger Goodell. No opinion that contravenes the interests of their corporate overloads (Disney, the NFL, etc.) is allowed.

Are we really going to act like this is the first time Shilling has used ESPN as his personal political soap box. Regardless of whether you agree with him, ESPN is a business and Shilling has consistently used his position there to make controversial comments. Those comments are bad for business.

There is an irony in the fact that the same people that cry that "people should be able to refuse to bake a cake for gays" are also the same people calling a private business cowards for not endorsing a controversial political view on their network. A network I may add, has no political aspirations to their platform.

But yeah... PC bullshat... Yada... Yada.... Yada....

ESPN has been a joke before this incident they will continue to do dumb stuff.

Baseball on ESPN flat out sucks. Game day is the only good thing in college football any. I never liked the nfl stuff, I watch anything nba or nhl so not sure how well they do In those areas.

I believe it was a tweet that he sent, expressing an opinion. If he had, say, announced that he was 'transgender,' that would have been controversial too, but we all know he would not have been fired. This is a game.

Those comments are bad for business.

Right, because the typical ESPN viewer is passionate about 'transgender' issues. ESPN gave the former Bruce Jenner its "courage award" last year; the ideological element is dominant here.

You're certainly right- I have no problem with ESPN being legally able to fire whoever they want. I demand the same right for bakers, photographers, etc. If you are willing to concede that right, it makes you the exception among liberals.

I am interested in the cultural norms surrounding speech as much as the law of free speech. And there is a cultural problem when everyone is compelled to utter false opinions as a condition of keeping their job.

The problem is that it is set-up as a straw man, that if you let transgender people use the other restroom that they will sexually assault your wife or child. The truth is that transgender does not mean pedophile or pervert. Just as a gay person isn't going to sexually assault your child.

In fact it is probably more likely that your priest will sexually assault your child than a transgender person will, so if people are going to place these types of restrictions on transgender people why not ban church? After all we need to keep our children safe.

He said, paraphrasing Dana.

I'm envisioning Dana Samuelson prior to leaving ESPN being outed after all those years of using the women's bathroom - and then starting to use the men's as is politically uncorrect?

Hi, guys! Chris, Stewart, John, Neil, Steve...

The men's room is already trans-gendered. If you want to sit down and piss, they are equipped to handle that.

Not meant seriously. Meant to show the absurdness of the idea. It is more likely that a child would be molested by a priest/pastor but we don't ban it but when it comes to the idea of a transgender person we are up in arms over something that statistically is extremely less likely to happen. It is fear mongering at its finest.

If that's how you want to look at it then people should quit having kids how many kids are Molested by their parents or family members.

Is this a joke? Because the above is laughable... I never said anything close to what you represent in the quoted. Not close.

Not you personally.

Proponents of the laws that are getting passed or considered are making it seem that way.

Huh? I think you missed my point. We don't ban things like church even though it is more likely (just like we wouldn't ban people from having children) but for some reason people are fear mongering transgender people using the other restroom.

The point that I am making rather ineloquently is that people are fear mongering that transgender people are out to molest your child/wife.

The real transgender people have mental issues for wanting to switch. But I don't think the true people that want to do that are a harm to the public. However I do believe it will give other mentally ill people that want to rape kids and women An avenue to exploit their sickness.

It's not that transgender people are going to use the restroom to assault someone or that transgenders are perverts. It's that perverts now have an easier route of committing an assault if they so wish. Regardless if they are transgender or not.

If they want everyone to be equal, instead of making one or two large restrooms where multiple people can enter. I say build 5-10 individual restrooms with a sign simply stating "restrooms".

Why?

Do you really think these laws are going to stop rapists/molesters from committing crimes? If someone wants to molest someone in the bathroom they are going to do it law or not. The only people affected by these laws are transgendered people.
