I'm so glad I live way out in the country.
I'm so glad I live way out in the country.
Mass. AG, yes, the person responsible for law and order, says sometimes it takes a city burning for the forest to grow.... Wonder what her thoughts would be if some rioters decided to visit her gated neighborhood and grant her wish... good lord how dumb.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">"Yes, America is burning," says <a href="https://twitter.com/MassAGO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MassAGO</a> Maura Healey, "but that's how forests grow."<br><br>What a foul, reckless thing for anyone to say, let alone an attorney general. People are dying in these riots. Families are being ruined. And Healey cheers? Despicable.<a href="https://t.co/3JfvupKBOl">https://t.co/3JfvupKBOl</a></p>— Jeff Jacoby (@Jeff_Jacoby) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jeff_Jacoby/status/1267893928868667392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 2, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
“I support calls for a revolution, but not the revolution of violence in our streets,” Healey said. “I’m calling for a revolution in mindset, a fundamental change to our ingrained assumptions.”

It was a terrible quote, but that headline really distorts the message. Her message wasn't that the voilence is okay, but that this is an opportunity for white leaders to reach our to others to better understand their point of view. She also went on to describe, in her words, her failings as an AG.
Example
There have been some really stupid things said by city, state and federal leaders. I just don't see this as anything more than a gotcha headline.
Dude, it's not just that. She's a train wreck. The Boston Police hate her with a vengeance. If you know anything about her, you know she's a silver spoon ultra lib SJW. She pushes her pro abortion, anti gun, anti Trump agenda with 100x more effort than actually doing her job, which is to be the chief law enforcement officer of her state.
Here's a little message the PBA sent her today lol

Okay. That's fine. But that still doesn't change the fact that her message in that call wasn't advocating violence, which is what the headline inferred.
Yep. Too many people brainwashed these days...
I've seen several studies on incarceration. There's a ton of data out there that blows up a lot of narratives. The left simply ignores it. And what is funny, there have been some good articles about the myths published by some left sources like you said.
Here's a few

There's a better one (actual study), but I can't remember enough to find it via google. I'll try a bit later.
Im going to see if I can dig up my old syllabus and see if I can get you the name of the book
Joe Biden is reportedly going to the funeral of George Floyd. Nothing wrong with that. My question is which Democrats will be attending the funerals of the innocent cops who have been murdered in the past few days?
He's only going so he can tell other attendees that they ain't black.

Cool. Happy to check it out.
And to be clear, I'm totally against incarceration for 1st time non violent drug offenses (within reason, if you got a kilo of Bolivian marching powder, that's different). I'm just tired of hearing false narratives put out there by the far left. We should all be talking about the facts, regardless of what picture they paint.

lol murdered at will by police. This sensationalism is not helping and more should be expected from our elected leaders. 2019 data- 9 unarmed black men killed out of 236. (3.8%) 218 had some sort of weapon (%92.3). 2019 data- 20 unarmed white men killed out of 371. (5%) 336 out of 371 had weapons (91.3%). I get that representing 23% of the gun death while comprising 13% of the population is very imbalanced, and there needs to be reform, but again, an honest discussion considering the totality of the problem has to be a part of the discussion if we want to move forward.
People that don't have the know-how or ability to look up and verify what these political prostitute politicians claim to get votes believe this sensationalized bullshit and honestly believe police are hunting and killing black people at will. Our schools stopped teaching how to research and verify. Misinformation spreads like wild fire to impressionable minds. No wonder people are terrified.
But I am not talking about the armed, unarmed, white, black or whatever. The police issue is a symptom, no the disease.
Found it!
John Pfaff. (2017) Locked In.
Heres an article about the book from Vox

Im going to reread it. I had this course during a chaotic time in my life, I wish I wouldve focused more.
New York looks like a shit show. Sounds like cops were shot in Brooklyn?

So we've discussed the causes of these riots. How do we stop them? What are your guys thoughts?
Simple. Do what ATL did. Bring in a heavy dose of National Guard, set a curfew, draw a line, and start arresting folks that violate it. We had very little arrests today. It's so uneventful, the local news isn't even airing live stuff tonight.
I love the new "defund the police" narrative.
Sure, while you burn and loot, we'll just reduce funding to police forces that have probably already lost funding over the past 10 years... Good lord the level of crazy and stupid is incredible.
Your generation did it all stupid boomer,... millennials and z’s are charmin soft now. I’m lucky you bastards didn’t get power enough to neuter us X’ers. We are the only real ones left now. It’s like the Dawn of the Dead out here,.........
