I have three pokestops on campus at work. Gonna farm that shit like nobody's business.

Sent from my Galaxy Note4 using Tapatalk.

My desk is a floor below one. As long as my GPS picks up, I can tap that shit all day without moving.

I want to know how long/how many people they had checking maps to get such good accuracy in terms of pathways and landmarks.

The parking lots on my campus are mapped properly all the way down to the number of rows and if they include weird side-lots and outlets, which Google maps doesn't even do.

And who took the pictures of the landmarks?

I'm starting to think that they used Google Street View for the pictures of landmarks that are on main roads, and reached out to citizens/members at companies/colleges to get pictures of the more obscure landmarks.

One of the Pokestops on my campus is a set of three, large industrial vents that are tucked away in a corner behind the library that nobody frequents. Only someone familiar with the campus would have (1) known that spot exists and (2) picked that as a good spot for an "adventure."

And Gattaca, brother, that is some serious commitment haha.

That's keeping up with every. single. generation. of games. Do you buy both (all three?) editions of each generation and then find a way to trade with yourself?

Methinks he's probably pretty experienced doing things by himself.

Thanks lol.

Yeah it was a ton of work but it was a fun mindless task to chip away at in my down time. I don't have every single game but I would say I have to majority. There are also a bunch you don't really need because of all the remakes. Most of the heavy lifting was done in emerald and black 2. You can get lots of the version specific pokemon through the GTS if you just offer fair trades.

I've got HeartGold and Alpha Sapphire, just waiting for a good time to start them.

I bought the digital version of Pokemon Red on Nintendo DS's Virtual Boy store and am currently ~15 Pokemon short of a complete Red-only set. Aside from that, my most recent experience was playing the original Silver version.

Playing HeartGold and Alpha Sapphire on my 3DS will be a new experience for me lol.

Cincinnati is loaded with stations. Literally one or more on every block.

My neighborhood is bereft. I have to walk a full block... but then when I get into the heart of Arlington/Georgetown, it's Poke-topia.

I told my wife in a serious discussion about our starter home that we need to consider proximity to PokeStops. She asked if that was a new type of restaurant or something #noob.

Let me know if you ever spot any legendaries downtown, GK. I can get across the river and into the heart of the city in about three minutes haha.

I'll let you know if anything good shows up on this side of the Ohio.

Ok, so I hardly ever play games on my phone and I'm 34 so I was a bit old to be into the whole pokemon craze.
Afriend told me about the app last night then I saw it here as well. Can someone give me a brief synopsis of the goal?
You fight these little guys against other peoples pokemon and if you win you take their pokemon, right?
The goal is to collect them all?

Different pokemon do different things I'm told, so how do you know which one to fight against your opponent?

Will do. How will I know it's legendary besides my memory of the original game?

Just your memory haha it's no biggie.

If you find a Mewtwo or any of the birds or dragons, I'm about that life.

First of all, this is hilarious.

Second of all THIS LITERALLY JUST HAPPENED TO ME.

There I was just having used all 30 minutes of my incense and ready to finish my Netflix and call it a night when I see an unfamiliar "shadow" in my nearby pokemon. I think "what is THAT? .. I don't recognize that at... wait... is that a... a... FLAREON?!" Yes, it was a Flareon. But it's 11 o'clock at night. Dark. Phone battery dying.

I have to pump myself up a bit at this point. "It's ok. Maybe it's just within the apartment complex! That sounds safe! 10% battery? That's enough!" So I venture out. It's three "steps" away. Maybe at the far end of the complex. So I take off in that direction. About 10 steps that way and it goes from second closest pokemon to sixth closest pokemon... UGH. That means it is most likely in the shady neighborhood behind the apartment complex. This is when spongebob comes to mind. "You are spongebob. You can do this."

I head toward the back of the complex and sure enough, Flareon jumps back into second in the 'closest Pokemon to this guy' race. Pro: closer to Flareon. Con: closer to shady neighborhood. "You are spongebob. You can do this." So I continue toward the back gate. One mankey pops up - not important. Then two mankeys - NOT IMPORTANT, FOCUS ON THE GOAL. Then I get to the back gate. This is it... the great beyond. If I take one more step, this will be the farthest from ho- just kidding, I'm not Frodo and I've been back there before. Deep breath, "you are spongebob", I open the gate. A few steps later and the Flareon is only one "step" away. "I'm gonna catch this mofo! ... or get shot... I hope I don't get shot".

As I approach the street corner (I'm really hoping not to have to cross the street) it happens. Flareon pops up! One click and suddenly I'm immersed in the battle of a lifetime. I nail it on the first throw - a perfect throw - but it escapes. I miss. I hit. It escapes. As we dual on this dark street corner it occurs to me that I'm standing on a dark street corner at 11pm trying to catch a pokemon... "this is awesome". Flareon and I continue our dance as he starts to angrily defy my poke ball throws. I'm scared at this point that he will run away like that Dugtrio did the other day. But finally, as if something out of a dream, my daring bravery pays off. Flareon stays in the ball. He's mine.

I start to walk back to the apartment complex in pure euphoria and I realize: that was one hell of an adrenaline rush! I check my pokemon inventory - Flareon - CP 409! By far the strongest pokemon I've caught! I've been walking on cloud 9 ever since (so for about 20 minutes now).

TL;DR this game is both addicting and awesome and now I have a Flareon because I wasn't THAT afraid of the dark

There was an Eevee somewhere close by when I parked my car at work this morning.

My walk into my building was not far enough to get to the Eevee.

I am crushed.

(I look forward to many water Pokemon that should be located in the lake just next to my building. Best believe I'm gonna grab a Magikarp and train that useless POS)

I've caught like ten Eevees in 24 hours. I should have him evolved by Monday at the latest.

I totally had a silhouette of Articuno 3 steps away on the way to work and walked in a couple different directions but could not find it. I am going back at lunch.

How exactly do you train them so they can evolve? I've caught a few last night on a walk, but am still unsure of the details.

You have to feed them candies. You get candies by catching duplicates. So when I catch an Eevee, I get three Eevee candies. I can then trade in the duplicate Eevee for an additional candy. Eevee costs 25 Eevee candies to evolve.

Just had my most intense battle. Nidorino popped up and took me 8 successful pokeballs to catch it.

Ok makes sense. I saw a couple duplicates, but didn't catch them because... Well they're duplicates. Now I'll have to try to catch them.
