247 has been very slow on the portal updates. I don’t think Kaleb Smith and Thomas Harper have even been evaluated by them yet

Ovie would be a nice get at SDE (an upgrade on Justin A to pair with NaNa) but they still would need someone like Vaughns for Vyper

I think the secret DE/DL visitor was Javontae Jean Baptist Ohio State DE/DL would make since being a former Buckeye and Freeman. Plus singer recently followed him on Twitter

Even if that is the case, those 3 puts the current total at 97. I’m not going to speculate on who the transfers would be, but ND is in such a paradoxical situation where their NIL can’t get any elite players, but it’s keeping a bunch of players around

That’s true but most guys still want to play. If they’re told you have no shot of ever seeing the field here, most will go.

I’m sure they are right that he’s not the visitor then, but the reason is OSU has JTT, Jack Sawyer and others. We……don’t right now.

What's the holdup? If you want to be in place for spring ball at the new school, you kind of need to get moving at this point. And the portal windows and OV rules aside, this is musical chairs and seats are getting taken every day.

Sounds like some may be able to graduate, some make a good amount of money that they won’t at their next lesser school.

That's a little messed up. They're one foot out the door but they'll stick another (spring) semester to collect NIL money?

O'Malley has been consistently throwing out numbers when asked about how many ND players he expects to transfer and he's previously made it clear he was making a numbers guess and didn't know specifically who would be transferring. I think that's all he was doing with this most recent guess but he didn't make that clear. About 2 or 3 weeks ago, he guessed there would likely be around 15 or so total transfers, and I think he's now saying 10 is approximately the number that will likely still transfer from this point on but he doesn't know which 10. That's my take anyway.

It makes total sense that there would be 10-15 outbound transfers between the end of the regular season and kickoff of the Navy game, a lot of which happens after spring ball when guys have been passed over and decide to go elsewhere, etc.

But when you frame it like "there are 10 outbound transfers that have yet to be announced" it sounds like there's going to be some big exodus gonna happen on Thursday or something. Which sounds dramatic but makes one wonder why it didn't happen already like at every other school. Because to this point it feels like we really haven't lost much to the portal, which is good, IMO.

Probably because outbound transfers are grouped in different ways and thus their timelines differ:
Guys who don’t care about graduating from ND
Guys who didn’t EE and wanna graduate and need the spring semester to do this
Guys who need to apply for grad school at ND and await acceptance
Guys who want to give spring ball a go and then reassess options
