Hampton Morris wins a bronze in Men's 61kg class Weightlifting, first US men's weightlifting medal in 40 years. Twenty years old, only been lifting for 5 years, and trains in the garage of his parents house. His dad is his coach. He drinks massive amounts of coffee to get himself amped up. I love stories like this.

What is going on with our American men’s distance team? I’m in shock right now. Wow!

They've been on the upswing for a while now but I'm also very curious about this. When I was running track back in the late 90s/early 2000s the U.S. was almost completely irrelevant past 400 meters.

Was like that my whole life. I bet if you looked at something from ‘84 - ‘04, we probably didn’t win this many medals combined. I’m half expecting a win in the 5,000 😀

It is interesting how the African countries are no longer dominating like they once did. I’ve read quite a few PED theories but who knows.

East African. West African is all about short burst speed. Read 'Tabboo' and you'll know why each nation and its people are great in various sports.

That works both ways, though. A lot of those Kenyan and Ethiopian runners were trained to breaking and treated like chattel. It would have been unsurprising if they were doped to the gills in that era.

The WTF look on the leaders' faces when Rooks motored past them on the final lap was priceless. Great effort, glad he got silver.

Oh yeah, that’s one theory. Lots of Kenyans have been busted for EPO in the last decade. I’m pretty cynical when it comes to PEDs at this level and assume almost everyone is at least microdosing them. I choose to just sit back and enjoy the spectacle.

Great game!! Serbia a bit of a blunder - letting the time run. What a game by Curry.
