Ohio State is the only team that can stand up to these southern football factories

They are in the midwest.

They have to deal with the same cruddy midwest weather that ND does.

I don't think Columbus is on anyone's vacation list.

They hate Michigan as much as I do.

They are committed to their football program and winning Championships.

I think I'm going to adopt them as my other football team. Just like Indiana has always been my other basketball team

ND should be close to what OSU is. Although we can’t offer every kid that they can, we have actually been able to offer the majority of the studs that they’ve landed since Meyer took over in 2012. The big difference is that their administration does whatever it takes to hire the best available coaches who can not only recruit well and evaluate talent, but develop that talent into a Championship-level team as well. I doubt our administration is willing to do that. BK could go 8-4 for the next 4 years of BK and Jack and Co. would be perfectly content.

In addition to whatever the football players get, tOSU has at least 4 assistant coaches making 6 figure incomes. That's pro football. You're talking about a team that's committed to being as amateur as possible, competing against pro teams.

Step 1: Get $1 million
Step 2: Donate to ND
Step 3: Talk to Jenkins
Step 4: Repeat

ND uses the football program as an ATM, at least tOSU puts money in the machine.

Another benefit is that OSU owns their instate recruiting, plus a solid stranglehold on neighbor PA. ND half the time won’t even academically accept most of the top 10 from Indiana, a much lessor talented region.

It’s all about going all in on football. ND has this pretentious notion that going all in on football will undermine the academic integrity of the University. This has proven not to be true, just look at UNC, who are still nationally ranked as a top 30 university after literally having a sham department to process their athletes through.

Location helps, but the number one thing you need is a athletic department to go all in. That’s allowed former 2nd tier programs like Clemson and Oregon to become powerhouses.

Personally, give USC another Pete Carrol or similar tier coach, and they will be back again as the best program in football. No one else has the combination of brand, location, weather, girls, academics and the additional bonus of Hollywood to compare to them.

I was born and raised in Columbus. Took classes at OSU. Had a job there. If I'd gone there, I'd have been a third generation Buckeye.

If you think ND has anything to learn from OSU that wouldn't grossly compromise our ethics, you have no idea what you're talking about. OSU barely graduates players and through the collusion of an entire city and state, protects them from both NCAA and law enforcement. Additionally, you can't understand how Ohio's culture works. The entire state revolves around OSU football---ND can't do that. People still tell Desmond Howard to fuck off when he goes home, and he left the state literally decades ago. If OSU wants an Ohio-born player, 95% of the time they just have to call.

I think it's worth pointing out that the South would have completely taken over cfb if it wasn't for Ohio State. They are a midwest team that doesn't enjoy all of the local advantages that the southern factories enjoy.

They are in it to win it

You also don't see Duke graduates complaining about the value of their degree due to its basketball program. It's ridiculous and yet that's all you hear ND grads on message boards say.

I have decided to adopt Alabama and clemson as my second and third teams, respectively.

Oh hell no. Like the title says, I want a team that can stand up to these southern juggernauts. I'm sick of them

The only thing Ohio State does differently than the schools you mention is operate in the Big Ten. If all you care about is location, just say it. But to pretend that OSU doesn't sell out for football like Clenson or Alabama is miss calculation on your part.

Well sure. That's the point of the thread. Ohio State is the only team that can stand up to the southern juggernauts. The only team NOT in the south to win a championship since I can remember. And they happen to be in the midwest.

They are like this one lone beacon of strength and hope that is defying the southern football factories. Am I slightly drunk? Sure, but I'm I'm just trying to stay positive and funny and grasping at something!

I live in the south and it's all I hear. I almost got into a fight with a bama fan last night. When I told him bama football was the only thing keeping him content in his trailer, it escalated quickly.

Nobody cares Dick......if you're so enamored with Columbus, or any other football factory college town, go root for them.

We got Alabama fans that have been smugly running rampant here for years. At least he’s says OSU will be his second teams, rather than ND be his “2nd” team.

Yes Alabama fans, not Notre Dame fans turned OSU sympathizers.
