I feel you, brother! I have been saying this, for years. The tuck-rule game was in 2001, right after 9/11.

The Raiders got screwed, because they have always been the bad guy, the anti-establishment team. The NFL said, "no way can we have these guys on the biggest stage, representing our league. Not during this time of tragedy and national unity." So the NFL called for the replay to go against The Raiders, thus starting this New England scourge.

I don't care if you think I need a tinfoil hat. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Fuck the Patriots!
Was it some grand conspiracy when the Raiders made the Super Bowl the very next year? Or was the conspiracy in the fact they got absolutely embarrassed by the Bucs?

The stats don't agree with your assessment when it comes to Bama and penalties for and against. Don't care about the Pats or professional football so much so I can't comment on them.

Bro it's just salty people griping. The OP was made when he thought New England was going to win so a post about "cheating" and officiating was made preemptively.

I think the top teams like Bama, the Pats, Bird's Celtics or MJ's Bulls tend to get the benefit of the doubt on some calls, but it's no organized, intentional conspiracy. A LOT of it is also perception and bias. Most people hate the dynasty teams like the Yankees or Patriots. If you do, you are a lot more likely to notice all the questionable calls that go their way and be oblivious to all the questionable calls that go against them.

Refs took a pretty light hand tonight. I don't recall an offensive holding or PI call all game. Most of the penalties that were called were pretty minor. The two Philly TDs that Chris Collinsworth kept going on about both looked pretty clear-cut to me (especially Ertz's catch-run-cross-the-plane play).

The Ertz catch was easy. 3 steps, football move (dive). Once the ball crosses the beginning of the white line it's a TD. The ball becoming loose becomes inconsequential. People wanted to bag on it because of the Jesse James call. The difference between the two was that James did not make a football move* according to them to establish possession, therefore he didn't maintain possession going to the ground.

Now the Clement catch... I'm not so sure it's a catch. That's one where you need to continue the catch throughout your motion to the ground. I saw the ball move from his hand to his body, as in it was loose floating back to his body, therefore no catch. It's tough these days for the refs, but I really thought they would overturn that one.

*I'd argue that by James twisting and diving, he was making a football move with a secure ball, but these NFL catch rules are absurd.

I likewise thought the Clement call was dicey. I thought both teams got some breaks, but that was a 7 point break for Philly. Overall, thought the refs did a B+ job.

Agree the Clement call was closer. If they had called incomplete on the field I don’t think you overturn. Nor was it clear enough to overturn the TD call. That’s what I meant by a light hand.

Also probably a four point break for Philly. An incomplete would have set them up for a 40 yard field goal.

I believe this is a great example confirmation bias. We interpret, view and recall information consistent with what we believe. All of our teams are consistently screwed by the refs, particularly ND football, - we can come up with thousands of examples on this board......

9/11 happens and trashy New England get's all the love since with their new Red white and blue get up.
Boston Bomber's and the Red Sox win.
Tuscaloosa Tornado and Bama does their annual routine.
Houston Flood/Hurricane
Feel free to add to the memories of our lost loved ones with sports miracles....

Manti Te'o's GF dies, we go 12-0.... you're right the whole system is rigged.
