This sucks but on the bright side it gets Zeke Correll (I assume) 4-5 games worth of starting experience heading into 2021. Similar situation to Aaron Banks in 2018.

IMO, it should be Hainsey to center and Lugg to right tackle. For the next 4-5 games, experience matters big time.

Has Hainsey ever snapped? That seems like a big shuffle.

I don't like the idea of moving a 4 year starting tackle to center. Lugg and Zeke have a couple weeks of practice to work it out. Granted Lugg has worked at all positions along the line, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze upsetting 2 positions.

Less risky than throwing in a ripe soph with no experience when a playoff berth/ natty is on the table.

Two weeks until NC - I would believe Correll will be getting a LOT of reps in practice and working with Book (under center practice too). I mean he's another 4-star, 6'3" 295 kid.

Disagree son. When you do that, you essentially have two guys adjusting instead of one. Plug in Zeke and let's roll.

On the fly, mid-season... it has to be Correll.

That's why they brought him, to be a multi-year starting OC.

PLUS, Book will finally be able to see the middle of the field with shorty in there.

Center success = snap accuracy 100% + flexible power.

Correll or Lugg ??? My guess is Correll with Quinn having Lugg on speed dial if the rook isn't holding his space well.

Opposing teams have decided not to face our giants simply head on for a few games now. They'll often have a rush design which features no lineman near one of the two guards and then try a late stunt or a double-wide one --- these are the "open" rushers which Kyren has been cleaning up. One wonders however if MBrown will want to test our newbie with straight power. This will require him occupying both Kraemer and Banks while he's doing it though, as the two guards often (when they don't have in-their-face work) lean over and smash around on whoever would be trying to give Patterson trouble, thus eliminating that. (I've never seen a double-teamed middle rusher even get a step across the snap line in that situation.)

But I don’t think he’s taken a snap since. They need someone who they know will be assignment sound first and hope the two experienced guards can cover up any inexperience that may show.

per II podcast Lugg hasn't worked as a center before any ND games this season. Grunhard was the #2 up until this fall camp when Correll passed him.

Sampson reckons Correll will step into the starting role.

Do you have any idea on the general feeling about Correll's readiness?

Wasn't aware that Lugg was taking spring snaps at Center.

Still a very odd proposition getting Lugg, who's 6'7, at center. But if they feel good about his snapping, I feel like that would be the best course.

Lugg has starter experience and has a rapport with the rest of the line in-game. If not, then Correll would probably be my guess as he seems like a better fit for the position.

One would have to believe coming in as a 4-star and working second-team reps he would be just fine.

Time will tell I guess. At least the Irish and staff have two weeks basically to figure it out.

Hey it works for Russell Wilson and Ethan Pocic. Hopefully Correll's ready.

How tough the job is will be mostly determined by UNCs DLine. I've not watched them play, but it appears that they are pretty close to that team's weakest link. They were pretty good last year, but the Bell Cows graduated to the NFL and have not been replaced. Their line is incredibly young --- all the subs are frosh I think and there are no seniors.

Having 50 scored on them by Wake will probably cause He!l to be raised by the staff. But, despite an off week, my guess is that the hellfire will have dampened over the two weeks and they'll not be as animal-crazy to compete as coach-fire sometimes makes you (at the start of games.) If it's Correll in there for us, my guess that it's not a bad opponent to cut first teeth upon.

This game will come down mainly to us vs their QB. ... and not making dumb mistakes.

I was actually thinking the same thing yesterday.

I have a very strong feeling there will be - minimum - 5 on the LOS and a spy on Book....

I truly look to see Book having a hell of a day in percentage passing with short routes due to that statement. He may only have 150-200+ yards passing, but the percentage will be high with short dumps - screens (IF Rees calls it based on the D-Line's front number(s)

I’m curious why a clearly ailing Lugg started over Dillon Gibbons. From everything I’ve read, Gibbons has played well in limited appearances this year.

You have to give Zeke Correll the nod against Syracuse and Wake Forest and let him develop.

Lugg was clearly in some discomfort when going back onto the field for the victory formation. Reports of a back injury seem to check out.
