I was thinking of this game and on paper I think I feel good about it, but something keeps nagging at me and I think it just hit me...

I definitely recognize that this team is deeper and more talented than it has been in years, but one thing about me is I am a major creature of habit and I definitely am ruled by trends with sports… I roll with the trend until it’s broken, dead and another trend has firmly taken it’s place… since 1994 Notre Dame has had many, many, many chances/big games to silence the haters, reestablish their spot at the top of cfb and take that next step… ND’s record in these moments is absolutely woeful, (I can only think of a couple moments like this that ended with a win really FSU 02 and OU 12???) not just in the win loss but also in the overall performance, usually ending in not just a loss but some kind of embarrassment…

So, part of me is just sitting back, waiting for that other shoe that always seems to drop, to do so… Now I am not comparing this game to Bama 12 or USC 06 or tOSU 05 or something of that magnitude but I do think if ND wins the next three games they are in a great spot to finally take that next step and reclaim a spot at the 'kings of cfb' table… finally… so yeah, my black as tar cfb soul is just waiting for the next calamity. Hopefully they can finally put this era of missed opportunities behind them and create a new, more positive trend.
