Former Rutgers and Arizona QB Tom Savage was just named their started. Kid has talent, but has bounce around an awful lot. Should be well entrenched by the time he faces the Irish.

Pitt really seems to have a lot more whole than last year. Last year they had strong RB's and experience at QB and on the lines. Most of that is gone this year and they lose safety depth as well.

Just noticed the 11am CST on the banner. Has that been confirmed anywhere?

I'm not sure exactly, but most of Pitt's home games are noon starts, so thats what I would expect here as well. The grounds crews likes the extra 3 hour in case the Steelers also play at home that weekend. What they don't realize is that a noon game sucks for students, and it is one of the reasons not many go (poor team, off-campus stadium, lack of tailgating, total crazy over Steelers are the others).

Pitt officially names Tom Savage starting QB - CBSSports.com

'09 RU Starter 2,211 Yds, 14 TDs, Freshman All-American
'10 RU Inj played 6 games
'11 UAZ Transfer DNP
'12 Pitt Transfer DNP
'13 Pitt Announced Starter

...

The action will be the much-traveled Savage's first since his sophomore season at Rutgers. After winning the starting job and earning freshman All-American honors in 2009, Savage was injured in 2010 and slipped down the Scarlet Knights' depth chart. He first transferred to Arizona and sat out 2011, only to see pass-friendly head coach Mike Stoops replaced by the spread-option looks of Rich Rodriguez.

Savage then transferred to Pitt, gambling that the Panthers would be able to complete their move to the ACC in time for the 2013 season. (An old-Big East-now-AAC rule stated that players may not play for two different teams in the league.) He sat out 2012 waiting for his chance, then took it in spring camp, edging past redshirt freshman Chad Voytik as the favorite despite a big performance from Voytik in the spring game.

Savage passed for 2,211 yards with 14 touchdowns as a freshman back in 2009. ...

If history tells us anything, this will be one fugly football game with a high probability of a nailbiter.

Making the roadtrip with three other dads and a total of six boys (4th and 2nd graders). 7 ND fans vs. 3 Pitt. Can't believe we are going to end up dropping $150 each on tickets for the lower bowl but at least we will be together.

From the outside, it would seem that something much weirder was going on at ND

its very sporadic...i go every other year there since it is an easy drive....a lot pitt ticket holders sell their tickets and basically pays for their season tickets....i am always sitting next to pitt fans....tailgating is very weak there!! but there is a bar right outside the parking lot where i go usually...PARKING SUCKS!!! and i am always skeptical of buying parking passes as there are lots of fakes...so i go to a parking garage in town and then walk 2 blocks...

Thanks PANDFAN, I am staying at the Westin hotel for the weekend so I won't need any gameday parking. What's the name of the bar that you go to? If the tailgate isn't going to be great a bar may be the best bet.

I have alot of friends that go to Pitt so I will be ruining their tailgates I'm sure, but Jerome Bettis has the best bar around Heinz Field/PNC Park, "Jerome Bettis Grille 36" wouldn't mind meeting up with the Irish faithful their if anyone wants too.

Also, the parking garage in between PNC and Heinz is that the one you are referring to Pandfan? Anyway, check out the casino, always some parking up that way.

Always nice to see people from the J! Everyone I was friends with in college was from Johnstown. I'll be at the game, we tailgate right outside of Jerome's bar, probably 300 feet toward the stadium from it.

Been watching this Pitt at VT game. Hokies have sacked Pitt 8 times and there is still over 9 minutes left in the game.

Upgraded from the nose bleeds to Section 115, Notre Dame's side. $150 for both tickets, gotta love knowing people in the hospital. But if anyone is down for me meeting up lemme know, hopefully it's not a noon start.

Not that anybody cares but I'm just throwing out that I'm coming in for this game.

I don't have tickets though and if I can't get them for well under face at kickoff, I'll probably just keep drinking somewhere else.
