Gentlemen, We HURT teams we play with this bunch. Who knows how many guys are walking wounded after our bashers ran into them for four+ quarters. "Back-in-the-day" ND used to do this to teams all the time.

This is it right here. Me and my brothers were talking about this during the beginning of the season. Just a lot of other teams getting injuries against us. We started counting the players limping off the field and or getting walked off the field....it was some 4 players on average. lol......We just hurt'em plain and simple!

Florida struggled with Bowling Green. You can have an off game and we did. Our receiving core is still young with a red shirt freshman QB. Our secondary is young as well. It is what it is, we have some holes, but we keep on winning. No one on here or in the world had us at 9-0 at the beginning of the season so let's go back to being pleasantly surprised instead of wondering how we're not kicking the crap out of everyone we play.

Now Go Irish!!!!! Let's beat the snot out of the Eagles!

It was all we could do to beat Purdue which way to many on these board thought they were worth the while and now Pitt. We need to smoke BC. I would like to see us win by 50.

In order to get the human love I would agree. This game and the Wake Forest game are going to have be beat downs.

Oh **** just heard on ESPN that we're battling the Flu!

I'm not buyin the whole flu argument for the bad performance against Pitt. It might have affected some of the players on D but goodness gracious did the flu cause the Cierre Wood fumble on the goal line, the missed field goals, the Tommy Rees pick or the Golson pick in the end zone? Also, I saw some of the starting o line out drinkin post game so unless they were rehydrating they were not sick. So, that does not explain some of the **** poor blocking in the red zone. They played a super sloppy, **** poor game for three quarters and almost lost as a result. They clean it up and they will blow BC out of the water.

Question about Pitt and how local Notre Dame fans (Indiana) feel about Pittsburgh...

I'm a Notre Dame fan from the Pittsburgh area, and playing Notre Dame is basically the highlight of the year for Pitt fans now that WVU is off their schedule. Week in and week out, Pitt fans on social networks will post their displeasure and hate towards ND and my question is this, how relevant is Pitt in Notre Dame? Is their a strong hatred towards them? Because ND gets so much attention from Pitt/PSU fans around here, and they absolutely hate to see Notre Dame relevant again it has me curious as to whether other ND fans even care about Pitt.

No, there's no general hatred for Pitt among ND fans. Pitt's one of our perennial opponents of the last 25-30 years, part of our personal conference along with Stanford, BC, Purdue, MSU, Michigan, USC and Navy. As with most of our traditional opponents, I get more of a feeling of mutual respect than mutual hatred with regard to Pitt. I have many family members from the Pittsburgh area, all of whom are Catholic, and they generally root for ND every game except the Pitt game. I'm very surprised to hear that you encounter so much ND hate among Pitt fans.

Of course, ND is a team with high exposure, and teams like that always have lots of haters (Yankees and Cowboys are other examples), so I would venture to say that the ND hate you see has more to do with that than with the ND/Pitt rivalry.

I personally just see Pitt as another team another game. I've never really been extra fired to play Pitt. Only time I remember kind of sorta being excited by a Notre Dame Pittsburgh games was Charlie Weis head coaching debut game in 2005, as one is always excited to see what a new coach is going bring to the table.

ND has so many rivals they play annually or semi-aunnually (USC, Mich, Mich St, Purdue, Standford, Navy, Pitt, Boston College) that it is hard to get more fired up for a "rivalry game". Only USC really gets me fired up regardless of record. The rest of the games it depends on how the team is doing. Yes I would be pumped for an ND Pitt game if both teams where ranked but Pitt really doesn't hold any special significance with me as an ND fan.

Yea I think the ND Pitt football rivalry is one of respect. I think things are actual more hostile between the fan bases when it comes to men's basketball.

I'm surprised that there are enough "Pitt fans" other than students to make much of a noise [other than in an old Backyard Brawl with WVU]. When I'm in that area [a lot due to caring for Mom] you almost never see anything but STEELERS fanaticism. One reason that other conferences were slow to ask Pitt to join was that Pittsburgh was not much of a college football market relative to other choices.

Yawn. They could drop Pitt and I wouldn't care. It would only suck for the large Catholic population there.

I grew up right outside of Johnstown, so I know the area extremely well. Unfortunately for Pitt, not only have they lost WVU but previously lost Penn State annually as well. That series is thankfully getting renewed, though still not annually. Without WVU or PSU on the schedule, Pitt NEEDS Notre Dame. ND, on the other hand, is much more ambivalent.

Wait just a minute. So you're going to come on here and suggest that Pitt fans have access to social networks and we're supposed to believe you?

I'm from Maine (and a Steelers fan), I can make that comment.
