This is the 39th meeting between ND and Stanford. ND has played Michigan 44 times.

ND has played Stanford every year since 1997 with Covid 2020 being the only interruption.

In terms of regularity, ND plays SC, Stanford and Navy regularly now. Michigan stopped after 2019 and isn't getting picked up again until 2033.

It's better for my mental health they don't play Michigan every year anymore. I act like I have 17 mortgage payments bet on ND to win straight up and I'm totally irrational from start to finish of those games.

That's what makes CFB rivalries better than all other sports.

I think the reasoning why ND has only played Michigan 44 times is crucial to the spirit of that rivalry.

ND beats them and then Michigan quits the series, multiple times.

Just win baby. Midwest weather is going to be atrocious Saturday night too so I'll be hunkered down all day and just hopefully survive long enough to make it thru 4 quarters

enjoy one of the greatest goal line stands in ND history:

Tommy was so f'ing cool taking over.

Side story. After the game when they were interviewing Kelly, the windows in our house shook all of a sudden. Went outside, but didn't see anything. Learned a little later the explosion was 7 miles away. These dumbasses blew their house up on purpose. Tried to disguise it as a gas leak. Leveled several houses by them and killed the next door neighbors.

Stanford’s run defense is at least respectable. Carr may have to actually participate in this game.
sounds like it. Love needs 132 yds to break Vagas Ferguson’s rushing record. Stanford has yet to give up that many yards to an individual this season. Not saying they played a ton of big time RBs but something to monitor. Nobody will be watching this game unless Stanford can keep it close late so how bad to they want J Love to get the record vs ensuring health for a presumed CFP run? This ain’t a stats-driven sport like baseball so I don’t know how much stock one can put in a rushing record vs a run at the NC

Based on the success BC had IDK why any other team would do anything any different.

I know many many Michigan fans and none consider ND a rival. 3rd at best maybe. A historical match up yes but that is it. Historically ND-MSU has been a much more of a rivalry than Michigan.
I don't know a single scUM fan, and I live here, who doesn't despise ND. That is a rival whether they admit it or not, and it's the same way we feel about them.

They compete for the same recruits off the field, and they don't like each other when they play each other. News flash, that's a rivalry.

It doesn't have to have a trophy or a cute little nickname to be considered so.

Now, USC trying to do that jig as well.

Our Defense is going to have a field day. Their tackles got absolutely worked by UNC's pass rush. Haven't seen Cal game so no idea how they scored so many points there.

Pitt was a top 10 rushing defense and Love made them look silly. I'm sure Love will get his on Saturday. Stanford is respectable defensively at 49th according to FEI, and 25th against the run, but we've played several overall defenses and run defenses, specifically, who are better. USC is ranked 51 btw, so about level with Stanford FWIW.

Their passing D is 133rd in the nation....out of 134 teams. So I'd love to see them load the box and see what happens lol

Prister kept saying how good their secondary is on yesterday’s pod. Maybe he was talking about stopping the run but I assumed pass D. Either way, sounds like ND should have a similar output as they did vs the D’s you referenced.

I heard that and not sure what he’s referring. Can’t say I’ve watched Stanford but they have one of the worst pass defenses in the country according to opponent adjusted EPA

Prister acts like every ND opponent is some amalgamation of the '85 Bears and the Greatest Show on Turf Rams.
