How can recruits choose Stanford over us after a double digit loss to freaking Northwestern! Wow..can't believe that game.
He had 66 yds on 12 carries for 5.5 yards per clip.McCaffrey is the leading rusher this season 27 yds on 12 carries 2.25 ypa.

You must have a short memory
We had a absolutely depleted team. I don't think Stanford has a excuse.
Jet lag!

... best to leave it go hahaUmmmmm
If we beat Stanford the next two times, throw them off the schedule.
All apart of the conspiracy to keep ND out of playoffs by weakening schedule strength
We can get in with one loss if we otherwise win convincingly. A 12-1 conference champion isn't any better than us if they have games against FCS and directional state schools. The playoff era is good for the sport, but bad for us since we are independent. They will not think twice about putting us in if we lose a game most likely.
And bring back who, Syracuse? Connecticut?
Keep SU on the schedule. It's a warm weather trip late in the season every other year and a recruiting opportunity every year. All we have to do is win.

I never said it was a given. I just objected to your implication that there's no chance. It's pretty simple. Undefeated, in. Two losses, out. One loss, we'll see.Judging how we got placed early last year before the decline, it's not a given at all.
Michigan is making a lot of sense since they are outrecruiting us. If Shaw can't keep relevant which is likely to happen, we need to replace them with a contender either way. Stanford win won't seem like a lot if they play us and have five losses.

When the first CFP rankings came out last year, our "signature win" was a loss to Florida State. We were ranked appropriately at the time. But you're right, if there's a chance of getting in with one loss, we can't be struggling against ACC bottom-dwellers. We need convincing wins.
Exactly. FCS wins shouldn't even be included in your win-loss record. It's like you see in soccer when a team like Liverpool plays against the Jamaican national team at MetLife stadium. A 12-1 champion with two FCS wins is really 10-1 and should be evaluated as such.FCS scheduling is the exact argument I had just a while ago with an ignorant Alabama neighbor. They have 4 games out of conference and two of them are FCS. Week FCS at that.
Yeah........ any kid from Michigan's parents will have no problem getting to see their kid play in person. Now a kid from the Bay Area?........ It's nice to have a game in California every year. (if you have noticed, we play home and home with both USC and Stanford, and we play @USC in the even numbered years, and @Stanford in the odd numbered years. So we have a game in Cali every year. That's important for recruiting kids who want their family and friends to be able to come to one of their games.
