Idk if either of those two penalties were legit. That was a damn good onside kick.

Kicking team cannot recover a free kick that has not been grounded and traveled at least ten yards. That ball was in flight. The act of touching it by the kicking team prior to it being grounded or touched by the receiving team is kick catch interference.

Also, the guy from BC appeared to have his helmet at or past the kick line. You have to think of it as plane that extends to the sky. Any part of the player that is at the line or past is offsides by kicking team. Think of the line as the neutral zone. I rewatched this in the wide view replay and the guy on the end at the near side was clearly offsides and it was not close.

I officiate football. Only reason I know these things.

He can’t put the ball in the end zone on kick offs. And his FG attempts this year are very ugly. He was stone cold last year and this year it’s a different person.

We have a great coverage unit. It could be that he is now kicking shorter with more hang time to pin teams back, ever think of that? Did you not see how great the kick coverage was last week?

Also, he is perfect on extra points, and is 11-14 on the year, with a miss from 58 yards. He went 17-20 last year. Definitely not worried at all.

This was a game that Notre Dame shits the bed and loses, or we sit here and complain that we were easily the better team and should have won by more than 3. The fact the ND continually made mistakes, but scored 45 points and put the game out of reach, despite that score at the end is telling.

New rules a few years ago. You can call a fair catch on those types of onside kicks now. That's why you don't see them as much anymore.

No it did not. It was in flight, he hit the bottom of the ball and it went straight up. The wider replay shows it clearly.
