Saw some article that said broken ribs are in the 3-8 week range. Article also said that it's usually more painful throwing if the broken ribs are on your throwing side.

So...do we send BYU a gift basket or nah?

Dude. If BYU and UNC are capable of beating UVA with him at QB, so is ND. There's no need to thank anyone else for what does or does not happen in Charlottesville.

UVA Offense vs. ND Defense: Advantage UVA.

ND Offense vs. UVA Defense: Major Advantage ND.

Quit being scared of the damn Cavaliers.

For once being Notre Dame, "Football Independent" is to our advantage. They can still win the Coastal if they beat Pitt and VTech. No sense risking him in a "meaningless" game vs ND.

It would certainly appear that this Va team's only real chance to win any of their last three games comes with Armstrong on the field.

I don't understand this belief that a win is only deserved if it's as difficult as possible. Is it a Catholic guilt thing? This is college football and only one thing matters -- winning the games on your schedule. If the (arguably) best offense in the nation is going to be without their QB, I'll fucking take it 8 days a week. Give me the win, don't care how.

If he's in, I would blitz the piss out of him for 3 straight series and lay him out. Jump a route or 2 if he's feeling jittery.

Pretty much this. Might sound dirty, but if he's actually going to play with 3 broken ribs you need to hit him early and often even if it leaves you exposed on the back end.

Plus, throwing those deep balls are going to put a strain on his core/ribs just throwing it far.

This one is on ESPN/ABC, correct? I figured if it were ACCN, it would have been announced by now. Surprised we don't have a kickoff time yet.

I think we're limited to one appearance per year on the ACCN for football. So ABC/ESPN is a near certainty. I'd be surprised if it isn't ABC 3:30. ESPN 7:00 is also a possibility but they seem to prefer SEC games in that slot.
Edit: SEC games already listed on ESPN website for Noon and 7:00

Thanks! That's a relief regarding ABC/ESPN.

Hopefully we're not a noon kick

The only announcement that would tickle my pickle is to know Armstrong’s ribs will keep him sidelined

Oh he'll play. They always play. Couple that with prime time and a porous pass defense and we may find ourselves in a shootout.

According to the guys on the SBT pod “Pod of Gold”, Armstrong should be good to go next Saturday. He did not have any broken ribs so he’ll wear a flak jacket to protect them but I suspect it bye week gives him just enough time to be a full go.

I am so f*ckin tired of all these teams getting their bye week before they face Notre Dame. 3 or 4 teams a year coming off bye facing ND I guess I can live with. But 6 teams this year is ridiculous! That’s half of the schedule. And next is a night game at Virginia with a crowd who have been drinking all day, UVA coming off a bye week while Notre Dame just played Navy and had their legs chopped all day. F*ck that! Jack S needs to be a stop to this going forward.

Not sure Jack can control other teams bye weeks?

I don't know where they're getting their info from, but I've found nothing confirming the significance of his injury.

Armstrong did an interview earlier today that was extremely vague. He said he felt better than he did after the hit but he mentioned that they'd be fine whoever's out there and didn't commit to the idea that he'd play next week.

Virginia has been very tight-lipped about his injury, which I don't think they'd be that way if he just had some bruising.

I'm leaning towards it being more severe than the SBT is being told. Like I said, if it was bruising, I doubt he leaves that game.

I actually agree that Jack needs to indicate to the ACC that they need to cut the bye week shit out. ND will always have options when the current contract is up to be renegotiated.

Combination of the bye week and a long compilation of all the ref fuckings we have taken that are over and above the usual acc refs are the worst bullshit. Maybe finally also kind of nix the number of your head coaches openly bitching about our acc arrangement.

100% the acc has done it to us maybe every game this whole time. It isn’t subtle.

Notre Dame in 2021 will face 5 ACC teams. 3 of the ACC teams have a bye week before they face Notre Dame. Notre Dame played F$U in week 1 so throw that out the window, as I’m sure if it was later in the season F$U would have had their bye week before the ND game. So taking the opening game out of the equation 3 out of 4 ACC opponents ND faces in 2021 are coming off a bye week. F that!

Without doing the research I really feel like this has been an ongoing issue since affiliating with a conference. I really would like to see the data on this.

I don’t pay a lot of attention to other teams schedules, but guarantee we play more schools coming off bye than any other, maybe double.

This is a conference doing right by their teams. Hasn’t yet worked this year, but if ND was in a conference we would want our league office to pull levers like this. It isn’t unfair, or BS, or conspiratorial. It is a league attempting to gain an advantage for its members.

The others are members of the country club. We have a pass to play on Thursdays after 4, no cart.

Yeah, if he was healthy and going to play, they would have said so. Now, they still have another week to get him in game shape. But the evasion shows he is not healthy, and word on the street is the opposite of what was on that Pod — he did not practice this past week, he has cracked ribs, and they’re going to shoot him up before the game and see if he can go.
