We could be in a much worse position. I imagine our D line will feast on FSUs sloppy technique & poor passing game.

No one can really tell how Brandon will come out and do. Pound the rock, play tight D and secure the W.

Maybe we’ll get the storybook game.

Chip Long will dial up a new game plan for Wimbush, we destroy FSU by 50 and Chip Long all but secures the Broyles Award.

Or it means that he has such little respect for FSU

So it sounds like the weather report is calling for less wind? Or is anybody else seeing something different?

I love these takes. We beat the 4th best team in the country with him. Why can't we beat Syracuse with him?

The big difference I see is Wimbush as an inferior OL to run behind. Last year, there were two top 10 draft picks + Alex Bars. This season, it’s been a lot of shuffling w/ veterans like captain Sam Mustifer regressing, Kraemer (highest rated recruit in his class) looking like a bust, Banks had a nice game against Navy but struggled vs NW so he’s still gaining needed experience.

We all saw Wimbush be dynamic last year but we all saw him struggle mightily vs teams worse than FSU. The one caveat is Wimbush will have Dexter Williams in the same backfield. That may be the silver lining.

We’ve been spoiled w/ high completion rates & high scoring pass game. That goes away w/ Wimbush and FSU knows that.

So you'd change a lot.

Exactly. Fans see the end result of completions behind the LOS or fewer than 10 yds and believe ND is now “airing it out” when it’s really an extension of the stalled run game. Unfortunately for ND, that’s the pass that Wimbush just can’t make.

On the bright side, ND has had a week to plan with Wimbush and FSU has essentially less then 2 days to prepare.

1/2 day to plan before final practice is probably the key. Obviously they will continue to plan on their travel day and such. The coaches will have two total days to come up with a plan, but if they can't practice that plan, it surely won't be as effective.

OLine needs to play big this game and RB blitz pickups will be huge. Our WR can get open with time but we need to make that time.

Posted this in Books thread too but: I asked my cousin to do some digging, he has some classes with Boykin, Tony Jones, and Kmet. They said to their knowledge he does NOT have broken ribs, they are bruised and he could fight through it if need be but they want him good for 'cuse and SC. hopefully they are confident we can take FSU without him.

He has a hairline fracture in one rib and a grade 1 kidney contusion. The pain isn't the issue, he'd have no problem playing through pain. The problem is being medically cleared to play with the injury to his kidney.

What kind of odds would you put on him being ready next week?

Sounds like you are VERY Confident, so having said that... This makes me somewhat positive that he may be available for Cuse. Seeing that its ONLY a Grade 1 Kidney Contusion.

Fingers Crossed for sure!

Having said that.... We're gonna SMASH FSU this weekend with Wimbush! ... we are a complete TEAM! Not only do we have a GREAT defense and solid skill positions, we have perhaps one of the top 3 Back up QB situations in the country!

I think ppl are forgetting we also didn’t have dex when wimbush was playing. That changes things a bit for wimbush.

That was mentioned before by Irishize and I agree. While Book has been the biggest contributor to the increased production on O, Dex has certainly been a part of it. Having both Wimbush and Dex with the ability to make house calls on any given carry should have some impact.

That’s my hope. If BW can make the right reads, the RPO can be deadly w/ those two. I’m less worried about BW & more worried about that OL which is a glaring weak spot IMO...at least in run blocking....they’ve been great in pass pro.

They have to see how it heals and if he's symptom free, so it's hard to guess. It's definitely not 0% that he'll be ready to go for Syracuse, but I'd guess it's less than 50%.
