Yeah, Armstrong blows. But Sampson said their main targets weren’t in the portal. By process of elimination, it has to be Hartman.

As we all thought with missing on Fiske, ND is apparently pursuing Bothroyd. Only edge we potentially have is that we are favored to get Hartman, another WF captain. What about kicking the tires on Coastal Caroline QB Grayson McCall. He's now in the portal and had completed 197 passes on 285 attempts for 2,633 yards, 24 touchdowns and two interceptions this past yr. 2 or 3-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year too.

What are the reasons to keep it quiet?

Not to upset players already on the team? I get the notion when it comes to a QB since only one predominantly plays the entire season, but ND has regularly rotated about four safeties into games in consecutive seasons.

Speculation on Joseph, perhaps?

It sounds like he keeps getting hurt making tackles, but his health shouldn’t be a concern here because our safeties can’t tackle anyway.

We have Watts and Henderson as safeties next year that’s not enough. I’d expect Lewis and maybe even Hart to move to safety

Kaleb Smith is also listed at three years. But he's already played in five seasons.

24/7 is off on a lot of players remaining eligibility.

I think this is a smart move. Lewis has already been passed up by Benmo and Mickey at corner. You have Chance Tucker who is coming on and the two highly rated incoming freshman. Clerance Lewis skill set probably fits free safety better than corner. Watts and Henderson are both more strong safety types. Once Lewis learns the FS position he has a chance to become a good player at that spot.

Would suck to lose Joseph. He wasn't Hamilton or anything but clearly the best safety on the team.

Unless you mean comparatively from what they've done in the transfer portal, then yes, they are. But, they need to be that aggressive in the portal because there roster has so many holes. ND doesn't need to be as aggressive, only just selective with far fewer needs.

ND wasn't recruiting the McCulloughs, and really have only lost Peyton Bowen to OU.
