Been away for work all week, but can't believe Max was on the ND radar! Yes he's local to me here in PA and I saw him play a few times in high school, but the fun part of the story is that my dad coached his dad in high school football and taught his aunt too. The aunt was a 1000 point scorer in girls hoops and just so happened to be one of my many babysitters when she was in high school and I was a little tyke.

Great family, Max is a hell of an athlete, and very strong academically. Really happy for the kid regardless of what happens on the field.

Tre should take one last night at Valhalla before moving on up to South Bend.

Haven’t been following. With the spring portal looming, are we gonna suffer more, less, or equally to everyone else?

Weird career move for this guy to make unless he could start over Gray this year?

Listed as RS Junior but maybe he would have another two yrs for covid year?

If true, would definitely be a nice depth piece at a minimum in 2025

Maybe that means someone could be on their way out the door, whether it's Mickey or Tucker, but likely ND just wants to be more competitive at the fourth CB spot.

DB depth and talent seems healthy. Should I be concerned that they are looking to add through the portal?
Nothing would surprise me anymore

Frankly I've been sitting around the past two offseasons expecting one of the Big Boys to buy BenMo away from us

2024 is a pretty critical year for Freeman. It would make sense if he wanted a veteran in that spot rather than a younger, inexperienced player.

He would most likely receive better coaching at ND as well as more exposure from a media standpoint. He would definitely be a nice experienced depth piece for ND.

If he has two years left it could be playing time this year and then great shot to start next year with BenMo gone.

One thing ND has adapted to better than almost anyone is proving that they take care of active players via NIL.

They might not be buying high school stars, but they’re proving to high-value transfers that if you can qualify and help the team, you’ll get paid.

Basically ND is doing it exactly the way the system was designed, and I think the success of Hartman (and retention of a guy like Mayer) will help with both transfers, AND with high school guys that have a system in place to help them see the big picture.

TL;DR
If BenMo gets bought out, there would be more at play than just a crazy NIL offer, I would think

all of this is true if the program is going well and there is stability, without that though it would be open season i think

Seen some conflicting reports on his eligibility, but he looks to be in his sixth and final year. He was a 2019 recruit, in which he played. He has the COVID year, and missed all of the 2021 season to injury.

Crazy thought....could a kid from Rice simply want to get a ND MBA? If he can't earn playing time at any college program, then he won't be going to the NFL anyway.

He sounded like he was a high level starter at Rice which is a solid program and sends a decent amount of guys to the NFL

I don't think its out of realm of possibilities to speculate that he could harbor realistic NFL aspirations for himself

But that path would be more difficult at ND because of the talent already on the roster

Why are you spazzing? Nobody implied he wasn't studious

Isn't ND currently still over the 85 limit? Jamie at ISD mentioned potential medicals, but he and Mike both said that something's gotta give. They wouldn't speculate names, but it must be a decent amount if 1) ND is currently over the limit and 2) still actively pursuing incoming transfers.

Miller looks to be a 7th year senior?

2018 recruit.

By my count we're at 87, not including the possibility of Rubio coming back. There are at least 2 players who I could see them giving medicals to (Gobaira, Bauman).

No offense to Bauman, but it feels like you either give him the medical now or you wait until he hurts his knee again the second week of fall camp.
