I have loved having Cierre breaking off decent runs this season. I think he is a great player. That being said I believe he would benefit from one more year of college play. He is not in the same bracket as Lacy or Bernard. Plus I just want him back one more season...

With all due respect to Te'o, who I absolutely love, he does not have the speed or overall talent of Willis, and probably not of a young Ray Lewis.

The linebacker whose career I think Te'o could most easily emulate, IMO, is Brian Urlacher. An extremely solid MLB, not flashy in talent, but who quarterbacks the D and is the heart and soul of the franchise.

This is what I was thinking of when I compared Te'o to Lewis. Urlacher certainly fits the bill as well.

The question becomes, would you take him top 5? Putting myself in a GM role. I would.

Really depends on the team, the needs and who is on the board.

I agree to an extent. Guys like him might not come along very often. It gives you something to build around your entire defense. The top 5 teams have a lot of needs anyways.

@aubeirish and the most interesting man in the world.

Ray Lewis drafted #26
Patrick Willis drafted #11
Jarod Mayo drafted #10
Luke Kuechly drafted #9

Proves my point MLB won't get drafted in the top5 . I think he will be drafted in the top 10 though.

If I was picking in the top 5 and need a LB, i wouldn't take Te'O.

I would select a position of higher value and take Arthur Brown at the top of the second round.

Sorry guys, but it's just logical to do that.

Urlacher and Willis both ran the 40 in 4.5. Urlacher actually had just as good, if not better, combine numbers than Willis. Urlacher was an absolute athletic freak. Te'o will impress people at the combines too, just wait for it. He is cut out of the same mold as all the MLBs mentioned.

I would say Teo is a lot of things... but an athletic freak is not one of them.

Sometimes you have to look inside the shell. The best example ever would be Tom Brady. Probably the worst Qb ever at the combine, but the guy is simply a winner.

Te'o has a lot of the same traits. He makes the people around him better. He hates to lose. He's humble. He always wants to get better. He's got a great nose for the football. He's got all the tools.

This football team was supposed to be 6-6 and mediocre at best."No speed, no talent, no Defense". We are 12-0 with the best defense in the country. I like to think that the 7 national awards winner and AP All-American had something to do with this.

I am sorry, but sometimes you have to throw logic out of the window. You have a chance to take the leader of your team for the next 10-15 years or some other guy. No brainer in my opinion.

All that being said, it doesn't matter who you take. In the end, they all have a chance to be a bust, including Te'o. Unfortunately, this is not a video game.

Love all of your points here.........except one. There is just something about Manti that says he is going to succeed big in the NFL! Reminds me of Joe Thomas, yeah different position, but you knew the guy was gonna make it in the NFL. Same with Te'o no chance he doesn't take his team by storm!!!

I absolutely agree with you. What I meant is that you never know what is going to happen.

And if he found a way to slide to the Bears in the draft, he could replace him.

No it's obvious the Minnesota Fighting IrishVikings would take him before Chicago got the chance.

If they keep playing like the last few weeks, they'll get that chance.

Don't disagree on the comparison, but you're selling Urlacher short saying he's not flashy in talent. Dude's one of the best athletes in the history of college football. 6'4", 260, 4.57, 34 inch vert. Played hybrid safety/LB in college a la Harrison Smith, but did so at the size of a prototypical DE. He is the definition of a freak.

Are you calling Tom Brady humble?

Giovani Bernardo of UNC declaring also. Good RB and and a very good Kick Returner. Likely a late 2nd or early 3rd round pick.

Yea, no. That would be for Manti. Tom isn't really the humble kind. Seems like a good guy, but he's got a lot of confidence in himself and he's not shy about it. I guess for a QB it's kind of necessary.
