Marquez robbed...Pacman got his butt whooped

Once again money and corruption screwed Marquez out of a win. Marquez pretty much handed it to Pacman and landed the harder and cleaner shots all night.

Discuss.....

I didn't get to see the fight but this makes 1 draw and 2 straight decisions for Pacman, hard to dispute that unless this fight was officiated like the 2009 Michigan game.
Both are GREAT fighters.

Yea, should've been a draw, if anything Marquez. Oh well, hopefully this is what Mayweather needed to see to get that fight going. No doubt anymore that Mayweather takes that easy

I missed the fight. From what I have read, most ring side experts had it a slight win for Pac Man or a draw. Seems it was a very close fight. Dont think either could claim they were robbed if it went one way or the other.

I missed the fight, but followed both the Sports Illustrated and LA Times live blogs. One had it scored as a draw and the other had Marquez winning by 2 rounds. What this decision tells me is that in order to beat the champ, you can't leave it in the judges hands. Now, it's time for Mayweather vs Pacquiao to happen. Boxing needs this fight!!! Couldbe one of, if not the highest, pay per view events of all time.

I don't think anyone got robbed. It was very close but also as I watched there wasn't much action. I never really got excited at any moment throughout the fight. Each boxer connected a few times but beyond that it looked like Manny didn't even want to be there and Marquez looked like he didn't really care if he won. Not just from the last round either when his corner told him he was winning.

Split decision says it all. ESPN had it scored as a one round win by Pacquiao.

At the very least it was a draw. Can you really say that Pacquiao won that fight? Can you really say that Marquez won that fight? Marquez landed the bigger and cleaner shots. I mean when you saw Pacquiao in the corner in between rounds, he did not look comfortable.

I can't say either one won. I just don't think Manny was interested. From what I could tell. Really kind of disappointing. They just need to get Manny and Floyd a fight to end any controversy over who is better. They will both show up for that fight.

But this fight was eh.

To say he was disinterested is only something a fan would say to excuse his poor performance. He did not seem disinterested before the fight on 24/7. You could tell it in his voice during the post fight interview that he was disappointed in himself.

Do you really think now that Pacquiao is even worthy of fighting Mayweather now? I mean if Marquez can counter him that easy, Mayweather will just simply pick him apart.

It's not like Mayweather KO'ed the #1 contender his last fight to put him head and shoulders over Manny. I really don't know who will win, but there is only one way to know. If they fight.

Otherwise everything will be a debate and just speculation.

I'll have to disagree with this thread. Normally, if it's a close fight the champion will get the nod. It always goes down that way. Manny landed more power punches and more punches overall. Some flurries didn't go his way but overall, I agree with the decision. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure which fight you were watching... the fight I saw was Pac obviously pushing the fight, throwing more punches, and landing more punches. Was it his closest fight in the past 6? Yea. Did he win by 2 or 3 rounds? Yes.

JMM fought an excellent fight, and I might have given him the nod if he would have pushed at any point in probably 4 rounds... but he did not. A win does not equal who lands the biggest punches, that's simply not how boxing is scored.

That being said, Pac did not look in good form. He looked more like he did a few years ago, before Roach started ironing out a lot of his bad habits. Anyone that has seen JMMvPac I and II shouldn't be surprised to see that though.

[I don't know if thats sarcasm, but Mayweather did Knockout the #1 contender. Controversial, but nevertheless it happened

I wrote it the wrong way, I meant to say "it's not like he KO'ed out the #1 contender in a fair fight" I know, I know it was between the bells and everything was legal. But it was still a cheap shot. That fight probably would have went 12 rounds also. For all we know.

I really just want Manny and Floyd to fight to end all controversy.

No, anyone who watched the fight would've saw that Victor Ortiz was overwhelmed. He wanted no part of Mayweather. And unlike Pac last night, Mayweather looked sharp and was dominating the fight. No one expert thought the fight was destined to go past 6, go and try and look it up.

I could really careless, its not like if Mayweather or Manny win I get money. I just watch it for entertainment. But until a real fight between them occurs no one knows how it will end.

Mayweather fans will say without a doubt he would kill Manny. Manny fans say the same thing about Mayweather but NO ONE knows the true answer.

I wrote off boxing a long time ago. It's become pro wrestling with far less interesting story lines, plus, boxing doesn't have Kelly Kelly. Just sayin'.

I've filled my thirst for sports with far more stimulating entertainment, such as....
