Did Howard really have to leave the last game because of an injured knee AND the runs? Tough night.

Yeah i know. They were talking extending overtime and adding 3 on 3, but I won't get my hopes up cause NHL.

I would love to see a five minute 5 on 5 overtime, then a four minute 4 on 4, three minute 3 on 3 and so on. If still tied after that, no team gets the additional point.

I wish they'd give 3 points for a regulation win.

Yeah I definitely want to see them go back to 3 points for a win. 1 point for OT loss. Maybe 2 points each for a tie?

Nah, I'd go 3 for regulation win, 2 for an OT win, 1 for a tie and 1 for OT loss... If you give 2 points for a tie you'd see pretty boring OT periods.

Yeah I think I agree with that. 2 points for a tie would definitely give teams an incentive to mail it in.

But it's the NHL and these things will never happen, so i'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Hawks losing in shootout again...good game to watch though.

Btw, why didn't they let Budaj and MAF go toe-to-toe tonight? Pretty lame but I guess since the line brawl last week they are all probably being told to stop most fights.

Wow! What a game! The Wings were desperate for a solid morale building win and they finally got one. And it was against one of the best in the entire league. My quick thoughts on the match up.

The Wings actually lived up to playing physical the entire game. Too many times this season I've seen them try to come out with a strong fore check and it just doesn't pan out. The Wings looked like they had a little extra spark in their step last night. I wish they could come out and do that every game.

Much like in the play off series last year, I saw some glimpses of Chicago really not handling the physicality of the game well. Early on, they were dominating, then the Wings got 1 goal, and after that they really turned up the hitting, and scrapping for the puck in the neutral zone. IMO the Wings convincingly controlled the majority of the second and third periods. Not sure where the shot count fell, but Crawford made some great saves in the third period.

Lastly, I HATE BRENDAN SMITH!!!!! The kid is such and enormous liability back there. The Wings would have won in regulation, if that moron didn't fukin try to clear the puck from the zone by sending it straight down the middle of the ice!!!!!!! I just don't get why we didn't cut him loose last year...... His ass is so lucky the Hawks choked in the shoot out. And for the record, I honestly thought there was no way the Wings would win in the shootout last night. The just don't win games like that, AND they didn't have Datsyuk, Franzen, or Alfredsson available to shoot. Then you look at the Hawks line up for the shoot out and your just like HOlY sHIT. They have way too much consistent shooting skill. You even felt that during the game. They would get into the offensive zone and they just had this confidence about them that you don't see their defense have. Anyways..... great game last night. Cant wait to see if the Wings can string together some wins here before the Olympic break.

GO WINGS!!!

Do wish the Kings could sore though, someone needs to tell Anze he's one of the best puck handlers on the planet... And to use that on penalty shots...

Ice doesn't look the greatest, probably best bet was what he did.

His three rings cover his ears so e can't hear that. I've seen the devils win 3 cups. How many cups have you seen the rangers win? Maybe 1?

I'll take my 1 with the way we beat the Devils to do it over your 3 that no one remembers or cares about.

No dog in the fight, but the Devils have been to 5 SCF since the Rangers last one, and in that clip, have accomplished pretty much the same as the Rangers have in their franchise history.

*I could replace Rangers with Blackhawks if it makes you feel better. They were peas in a pod before the last few seasons. Just pointing out the Brodeur Era will have a strong, lasting impact on NHL history.

Is Halak a liability? Last year I thought Blues were one offensive weapon away from being a contender, but I didn't think their goaltending was an issue. I think they can win the cup this year with halak and they're the team I'd like the Hawks to avoid in the playoffs. Not sure how much better Miller makes them, though.

Miller's been really good this year behind just an awful Sabre team. Put him in fat bastard's system he could win them a cup, plus there is an outside chance of resigning him(even though i've heard he wants to play in California, only 1 of those teams is an option). Probably the 2 biggest offensive targets(Moulson and Vanek) are set on signing elsewhere, so who knows.

Consistency in the net is so hard find. You rarely find any goalie that is good year after year. I would say that at least less than 50% of the teams can find it. Just a different position. Weird people too, for most cases.
