I don't like the Patriots, quite the opposite in fact, but I'd be very interested in watching the Tom Brady-less NE organization while Belichick still cares. It'd be interesting to watch how they go about the rebuild, retool, re-whatever you want to call it.

I'd honestly expect them to play in a Super Bowl within a couple years if Bill is still full go.

Belichick has multiple rings without Brady though (was the architect of the game plan that spoiled the heavily favored Bills no huddle in the greatest SB ever,... also the first couple rings with Brady Tom was simply a game manager) and turned the Browns into a Super Bowl fav before 'the move' derailed his last season in Cleveland. We've seen what he can do without Brady,... a lot.

In the 1990 NFCCG he switched his defense from zone to man and knocked Montana not only out of the game but out of San Francisco. Hostetler played for the Giants and they still won.

That was the most physical game I've ever seen.

I think he's the straw that stirs the chowdah.

But I'd like to see him as a head coach in New England without Brady. Not as much as I'd like to see Brady without him.

Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings have made some moves to create more cap space, releasing veteran CB Xavier Rhodes, DT Linval Joseph, and releasing TE David Morgan. Kyle Rudolph finished as their starting TE. He was re-signed in July with a four year contract worth $36 million. They drafted Irv Smith, Jr last year.

Harrison Smith and Kyle Rudolph are the sixth and eighth highest paid Vikings. Releasing both of them creates almost $12 million in cap space for a team that ranks 24th in cap space at $20 million.

In other ND Vikes news, their SBNation cite had a "tournament" for readers to select the greatest Viking player of all time. The other "semifinalists" were Randy Moss, Fran Tarkington, and Carl Eller. Quarterfinalists included Cris Carter and Adrian Peterson.

We're about to find that out. I would love to see both him and Belicheat crash and burn lol...

That's only if Tom doesn't come to Indy lol...

Gonna be lit when Teddy Bridgewater signs with New England and takes them to the AFC title game with ease,...

Just to be clear- is the consensus here that if 43 YO Brady who is two years into a steep career decline goes 7-9 for the Bucs next year it will be proof that he isn’t one of the greatest QB’s of all time and is definitively only a system QB. I guess I don’t understand that logic.

My stance is that if NE barely misses a beat with any other QB while Bill is there then that is evidence enough for me that we even know the name Brady because he played QB for Bill. We will see. The how Tom does away from NE is not as much of a factor, unless he stuns me and leads some mid grade team to a title, then I'll shut up.

maybe he isnt? he just says his football journey is elsewhere. Perhaps he is picking up all that MNF money that Manning and Romo left laying on the ground.

I personally want him to go to a team with a good OL, and good skill players, and look like a steaming pile.

Yes, I think Bill is the real GOAT. Yes I am full of NE hate.

So, the Browns did some stuff yesterday... talk about fairly big moves getting buried in the news cycle.

I saw Brady come through enough in big time playoff games and Super Bowls to know he is one of the best ever. That's what made him great, not winning the division every year. Jimmy G's performance in the Super Bowl is something Brady would not have done in his prime. It's what separated the good from the great. IMO.

I don't view Joe Montana's greatness any different because of what Steve Young did.

TB12 to TB all but confirmed. Two years 30 mill

From ESPN,
Brady has five times as many playoff wins, six times as many Super Bowl wins and seven times as many 30-touchdown seasons as all the quarterbacks in Buccaneers history. He could lose his next 283 starts and still have a better career record than the Bucs franchise.

As much as I dislike NE and TB, he deserves some credit. Everyone talks about BB and TB as a duo, but maybe what everyone should be talking about is the duo of Kraft and BB. How many good players were let go when their contracts started to become an issue, yet BB still had NE rolling? Brady has deferred major bucks on a couple of contracts. Now that he wants the big payday NE lets him go. Remember, Brady missed a season and NE didn't miss a beat. I guess we'll see how much it was BB and how much it was TB.

Interesting Brady signed with the Bucs given Arien's O is predicated on the deep ball. The Titans and Colts made more sense in terms of an offense, but neither was going to pay what Brady wanted.

Didn't miss a beat? They went 11-5 after going 16-0 and they missed the playoffs. The big wins are too many to count. How'd he do in the Superbowl against the Legion of Doom? Check those 4th quarter stats. I'm not going to get drawn into an argument about Brady's greatness, I just think people ought not diminish it.

I'm not diminishing what he's done. He's one of the greatest ever. To compare a 16-0 to an 11-5 as missing a beat is stretching it. It only takes a second to count how many teams have went 16-0 in the NFL. 16-0 is something of an aberration as is going 11-5 and missing the playoffs. 11-5 in the NFL is considered a pretty good record and almost always lands you in the playoffs. The year prior to going 16-0 the Pats were 12-4. Saying 11-5 isn't missing a beat when they averaged 4 losses a season since 2005 isn't a stretch.
