How much is LA offering? Isnt Donald due for a kings ransom in a year?

Don't know the answer to how much they are offering Suh, but yes Donald is due to become the highest paid DT. Not sure how they could make both work, but I guess we'll see.

They have to think about Goff in a couple years too... they can't tie up too much money elsewhere.

Trying to figure out how New Orleans is among the Suh finalists with cap space of $7 mill. They could trade or cut Coby Fleener, who counts $8 million against the cap and the fifth highest paid player on the team. Releasing him after June 1, cap savings goes up to $6.4 million and the dead money goes down to just $1.6 million. Mock drafts have them taking a TE.

Thomas Morstead is the highest paid punter in the NFL and the ninth highest paid player on the Saints with a cap hit of $4.85 million. The Saints just extended his contract saving $2.5 million in additional space.

Willie Snead, WR, had his production go down in 2017 with only 8 receptions, was suspended for three games, and had a hamstring issue. Releasing him would save $1.9 in cap space.

That could give the Saints an additional almost $11 mill, and they might get creative with Suh's contract.

Reports that the Browns are meeting with EJ Gaines... PLEASE let this happen... adding him and Chubb? Our defense could be beastly in very little time.

So the Browns were at SDSU's Pro Day today (almost certainly for the RB Penny)... and JFF was there too. Now all these Browns fans are coming out the woodwork crying about giving him another chance and how he's gonna make in the NFL afterall, Browns HAVE to get him back, etc...

Now I know why I'm cursed with a losing football team. I made the life choice of aligning with the most mouth-breathing, morons in the NFL...

Hoping Pats snag JFF and then draft a QB this year. Let them duel it out for #2. They had Tebow in for summer and pre-season and it was never a shitshow, so I think they can handle JFF.

Browns sign QB Drew Stanton to two year contract.

"Doesn't matter! Drew Stanton needs help. He can't do it alone. And you know what I saw at the end of that game? I saw a kid that had an entire program on his back! And he had the other twenty-two guys who play, begging him, telling him, 'Look, we can't do anything! Help us!' You know what? It's time for everybody else to step up."

"Second of all, what the hell are you doing in the shotgun in a monsoon? You're asking Drew Stanton to run the option in Hurricane Katrina. You're coming out five wide; run the football!"

Just your reminder that Mike Valenti's rant will live on.

Rams acquire Brandin Cooks in trade with Patriots

Rams also got a fourth round pick and sent their first (#23) and sixth rd picks to the Pats. Pats now have 2 1sts (23, 31) and 2 2nds (43, 63) in addition to a third, fifth, sixth and seventh picks. Cooks is in his final (fifth) yr on his rookie contract. Speculation is that Gronk may not retire, but has not announced that yet. Rams are loaded. Pats could now move up in the draft with those picks to select QB.

Who the hell are Pat's gonna throw to besides gronk

Good question.

Cook and Amendola were the second and third receivers in total yardage (1641 between the two) and in receptions (126 total). That's 37% of their reception yardage and 32% of their receptions. They acquired Cordarrelle Patterson from Oakland who only had 31 rec for 309 yds. And if Gronk retires (69 rec and over 1,000 yds) ...

They need an understudy for Brady and lost Nate Solder (LOT), Malcolm Butler (CB), Dion Lewis (RB), and Cameron Fleming (OT) in addition to Amendola and Cook. Lewis was the workhorse and ran for more than forty percent of their rushing yardage and was sixth in receptions. They need new replacements along the front seven in addition to QB, RB, WR and OTs. NE ranked 20th in rushing yards given up.

The fifth QB could fall to them at 23, then pick a LOT at 31, taking a WR and CB with their two second round picks, and a RB or LB with their third rounder. The fourth rounder that they sent to the Rams was a compensatory pick, but their only fourth round pick.

But between the 23rd pick they got from the Rams and their 31st, only Pittsburgh may need a QB. WR and CB are two of the deepest positons in this draft. Maybe they develop a QB from a later round and grab a top WR and LOT in the first.

Coby Fleener, TE, released by the Saints. He has yet to be cleared from a concussion symptoms from a hit in November.

https://youtu.be/9yU5i1pHB1g

Former Saints tight end Coby Fleener still dealing with concussion symptoms: Sean Payton

Fleener has played two years into a five year contract. will cost $8.2 million in dead money this season, but the Saints save $3.0 million in cap space this year with the post June 1st cut designation, bringing the total of his contract to less than $5.2 million in cap space in 2018. The Saints will take a dead money hit of $3.2 million for 2019, and then $1.6 million in 2020.

You wonder if he will ever play again.

In Feb, the Saints released Nick Fairley, who has had a heart condition and never was cleared for 2017 by multiple specialists.
Saints release Nick Fairley as contract remains unresolved
