This site is addicting. I've done 20+ mocks with the Patriots and every time I pick Tuitt in the 1st and Niklas in the 2nd, I feel my mock is much better for the Pats. It seems like there's a big drop off from taking a DE in the 1st vs. 2nd, and taking a TE in the 2nd vs. 3rd. I've also come to the conclusion that there's no way the Patriots actually hold on to their pick at 29. It just makes too much sense to trade back and there will definitely be willing partners trying to move back into the 1st round.

As you said, there would have to be a partner. What are some scenarios that you think could happen? Who would want to jump up and for who?

Well, I think the last 4-6 picks of the 1st round are prime targets for teams looking to get back into the first round. As for which teams and players, I'd start with QB needy teams that didn't take a QB in the top half of the first round. A team like Houston, Jags, Browns, Raiders. If Houston takes Clowney at #1 overall, I could easily see a scenario where they trade up a few spots from the 2nd round to ensure they get the guy they want. Or, one of those other teams I mentioned trade up to get in front of Houston, knowing they will very likely target a QB with the first pick of the 2nd if they didn't take one at #1 overall.

I think picks #26 to #32 are always prime real estate for trades.

If Pittsburgh didn't sign Blount as a free agent, I'd like the Tre Mason pick a lot more. He definitely fits the mold of a Steelers running back but I would like them to draft a change of pace back like Dri Archer

I forgot about that... but still was the best player on the board, which is generally what management picks.

I tried using all of the big boards at least one time. The only one that I like is the Walter Football big board; the other boards just seem really off to me

Agreed, Walter Football seems to be the most accurate, although I just got Manziel at #29 for the Patriots and there's very little chance he's around. I decided to pick him and see how the draft turned out for the Pats. It's not one of my better drafts, but I was happy to get Martin in the 2nd (I'm reading he's a guy the Pats may really like) and ecstatic to get Desir in the 3rd. He was available in the 3rd only one other time (my first simulated mock). However, I neglected the TE and WR position. TFB would not be happy with me.

First time for the Niners. With the problems they have at QB, and not just off the field, I feel like I dropped ball not getting Jimmy G but still I think the first three rounds are decent.

I know that I have four WRs but I can see the Niners doing a sign and trade with someone or just straight up trading picks anyway, so I guess I figured outside of Crabtree that the team needs some major WR weaponry. Even with Boldin coming back.

Ealy because Aldon is becoming a headache and they may need the insurance. Then again they did pretty well without him for much of the season.

CB is a huge need, obviously and I think McGill could be brought along in a dime or nickel package until he gets a better understanding of the NFL game. Especially like his size for a CB.

Not sure about Robinson, as I see him as more of a Boldin clone and the Niners really need an outside threat so maybe they can slide Boldin into the slot where his size and toughness would be extremely valuable.

Getting Justin Smith and Gore some solid backup would be nice, as I expect them to let James go via trade, but Gore takes a major pounding so someone who can let him take a breather would be great.

Shembo may not get a lot of time on the field with the LBs that the Niners have but again, depth is always great to have....and to get him in the fifth round would be a steal, imho.

Getting Shaq Evans in the seventh would be a nice under the radar pickup, possibly.

But the Niners FO will likely do a better job at this, lol!

Another steelers draft... maybe not accurate at the end, but funny (I passes on Bennett for Cockrell/DAT):

15 CB JUSTIN GILBERT

46 DT LOUIS NIX
NOTRE DAME
97 WR JARVIS LANDRY

118 RB DRI ARCHER

173 RB DE'ANTHONY THOMAS

192 WR T.J. JONES
NOTRE DAME
215 DE AARON LYNCH

Would be so happy with the first two rounds, though I hope Nix does not drop that far. Interestingly Barr went 1st overall in this mock. Would be a great first two rounds for the Steelers. Also Dri Archer and DAT.... hahahaha.

Picking for the Niners is tough because there are eleven picks and you just know that they are going to be trading some of them anyway.

Still, I would be fairly pleased with this draft, I think, at least through the first four rounds.

With major needs at CB, WR and on the DL (particularly with Aldon Smith's troubles and Justin Smith's age), I am hoping that Bowman comes back and is 100 percent, but Niners are likely to trade some picks anyway.

McCarron seems like he would be a smart backup QB who has played in a pro-style offense with some mobility, but his football IQ would be the best thing that he could pass onto Colin.

Exum and Shembo could be steals, too. Very weird how I am seemingly picking Andre Williams and Shembo in the majority of my drafts, mainly for positional depth, although having someone who can emulate Gore (to a degree) would make for a great mid-round find.

Not bad, but would have liked to see at the least one interior offensive lineman selected. A combo center/guard would be ideal. I do think the 9ers need to draft one RB, but not two since they picked up lattimore last year. Would have liked to see them pickup Logan Thomas over Aj. Thomas is more in the mold of Kapernick and if he doesn't workout at QB a backup plan is for him to play TE

Bears:

14 DT AARON DONALD

51 CB KEITH MCGILL

82 DT DOMINIQUE EASLEY

117 RB DEVONTA FREEMAN

156 OLB RON POWELL

183 DE AARON LYNCH

191 CB RICARDO ALLEN

Goal: Reload on D, especially the D-line and CB. Bears had the worst run defense in years. So, I wanted to bolster DT the most. Also wanted a playmaker on offense. Freeman is pretty versatile and could make a good back up to Forte. And, yes, I picked up Aaron Lynch. He would make an ideal DE in the 4-3 if he gets his butt in gear. He is a worthwhile risk in the 6th round.

Yeah I wanted an OL but I guess by the fourth round the pickings were pretty slim.

I honestly don't see them using all these picks as they stand, but the need for CB and WR seem a little more prominent. But yeah, OL would have been a better pick, just not sure when, probably third round.

Seventh round was just bottom of the barrel trolling actually. I think I did a draft where I got a solid OL though, as well as Jimmy G in the third round. Logan began as a TE anyway, so it might be good to get him because of that versatility.

I drafted as the Rams, but I restarted it a few times until Jadaveon Clowney was drafted #1. It wasn't realistic to draft under any other circumstances. Honestly, I don't see any way the draft could go better for the Rams unless Clinton-Dix slides to 13. They need help at OT, S, CB, and WR and all get addressed in the first 4 rounds with first and second round talent, IMO. In the later rounds, they add some depth with Patchan, Vereen, and Washington plus a few wild cards like Neal and Manumaleuna.

I think that's a well balanced draft. Thomas is a smaller Harvin which makes me worry about his durability.

Agree I like getting Martin in the 3rd and Jeffcoat in the 4th. Those are two quality DE's that your not having to pay up for. I've done a few of these, drafting as the Cowboys, who need DE's and those are two guys at those respective draft positions that I'd be very happy with.

I don't know as much about Martin, but I like Jeffcoat. The 4th round, IMO, is a steal for him.
