Parker could be the offensive coordinator next year and we would probally be fine because of Hartman and the RB room but after next year would be concerning.

If Brian Kelly can get Marcus Freeman to Notre Dame then Marcus Freeman should be able to get someone similar. He simply has to share in some of the responsibility here. I know this will be a very unpopular opinion but this still feels like the bumpy road traveled of a rookie HC.

ND donor base is the money. So if the board wants to act in their best interest and protect their revenue, they damn well better do something to keep them content with it.

Your fans are pissed.
Your alums are pissed.
Your former players are pissed.
Your donors are pissed.

You can only piss so many people in your corner off until you start feeling that hole in your wallet burning.

The issue is still "which donors are pissed." The ones who email Driskell don't matter. The ones who do matter don't know who Driskell is, or if they do, don't care. They have direct access to the people at ND who matter, and aren't going to waste time sending screeds to Driskell.

As for the hole in the wallet...if there comes a time when the hole is too big, that's when the discussions with the Big 10 and/or SEC will start.

this. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bunch of season ticket holders claiming to be a "donor" because it's part of the ticket pricing.

They're not selling out games anymore either, and that streak ended BEFORE Covid.

At some point you have to stop being tone deaf and out of touch with what is going on.
They don't really care if they sell out all the games. They made that statement when the streak ended. The addition of the premium seating and boxes means they still come out ahead from a revenue standpoint.

As a $100 donor level to the Rockne Fund, I am pissed and do not plan to donate this year!!
But it's mostly because I don't need the early access to tickets, since they are easier to get now. lol

I stopped donating to the general fund years ago and started giving to the Parseghian Medical Research Foundation. The university and athletics department are swimming in cash, they don't need my money in addition, especially when they can't articulate what value it adds other than having a work-study student make scripted phone calls. The APMRF does good work, and I get a handwritten letter from the Parseghian family every year telling me how much it means to them.

He’s a *very* bad offensive coordinator.

This would be a BVG-level hire for Marcus. The type that kills careers.

There is way too much information that is missing for me to form an opinion as to who is ultimately responsible for the shit show that has transpired over the last 24+ hours. The chances of Notre Dame getting that homerun hire at this point is probably not going to happen, so I would like to see ND go in a different direction with this hire. Go after a young and upcoming OC/QB coach from a lower tier school that has been a successful OC for 4-5 years, is energetic on the recruiting trail, and runs the style of offense that best fits our personnel and what MF envisions for ND. Just my 2 cents for whatever it is worth.

Promotion of Gerad Parker to OC would effectively be an admission that we blanked on everyone else and have no other options.
Yup. It would be raining the white flag on not only next season, but the MF tenure.

If we hire Parker it would be such a lazy and cheap move. And I will be compelled to scream loudly into the void on twitter and send angry texts to my group chats. I might even write an email! At minimum I will request to speak to the manger, if that doesn't get me anywhere I'll go straight to the Pope and demand an audience.

But seriously, next time they call me for a donation I'm going to say "I totally understand not spending $4M on an OC from Utah. It's an inefficient use of funds. How many WRs did you buy with the money you saved?" And then when they say "no one, we consider Matt Salerno running fade routes against Ohio State a winning strategy" I will politely hang up the phone.

I don’t think Parker actually did much at WVU it was still Neal Brown’s show so less concerned about the output under him as OC as just he actually has a nonexistent resume to be the OC.

You’re essentially hiring someone with zero experience as far as I’m concerned.

If you do this, be nice to the person who answers your call. They are a staffer, they have no say in anything that goes on.
Yep, that is the most important thing. Do not go off like some sort of wingnut, because they will ignore you (likely will anyway).

In all Honesty, MFMF should walk in to Jack Boy's office and hand in his papers. He will get swooped by a team before he can leave the Gug. I would be so friggin pissed.

There are other options. I would take Parker as a Co-OC, but thats it. I just can't get behind a team that doesn't want to put it's best foot fwd.

As far as Driskells post about shit being broken? Yeah, that happens to every program, even pro teams. Hell I remember a team that had to use an outboard boat motor in there hot tub.
